Re: [WallOfVoodoo] Best WOV show?

I first saw Wall of Voodoo at the legendary Rathskellar in Boston in the early
80's.
The show blew me away and made me a fan forever. The stage was set with the
ghostly doorway from "Call of the West" and there was a single industrial-type
light fixture hanging above Stan at center stage. Stan kept smacking it
throughout the show causing it to swing back and forth to the sheer delight of
the packed crowd. Joe Nanini's percussion rig included several old brake drums
that he continually beat with a ball-peen hammer.

"Call of the West" remains one of my favorite albums that gets played on a
regular rotation.
The Rathskellar is gone replaced by a luxury hotel, but if you listen closely,
you can still hear Stan's haunting wail...'I used to be somebody, can you hear
me...I used to be be somebody, don't walk away...I used to be somebody, god damn
you...

Come back to Boston, Stan - we need you !

I will never forget seeing the band in a club in Tucson Arizona. I sat
on the stage and was blown away by the sound. One of the stage sets was the door
from the "Call of the West" album. It was easily one of the best concerts I have
ever seen.

Sadly the Rainbow is no more but if you go by the Wallgreens on Evans you can
still see the Rainbow Music Hall sign at the top:-(

Subject: [WallOfVoodoo] Best WOV show?

Hello!
I am new to this group. My name is Tim and I currently live in western
Colorado.

I am interested to find out where YOUR best WOV show was at. My best
WOV show was in 1979 at The Barn at UC Riverside. WOV was the headline
act out of 3 bands, all put on a great show, one of the other bands was
called Los Mircowaves, I think, I do not remember the other band. In
fact, that particular WOV concert is in my personal "Top 3 Best Shows"
category for me, and I have seen hundreds of concerts. It was
fantastic!

Take care and thanks!
-Tim
