Hi Kimberley,

I'm so glad that there was Divine Intervention in your life and that
you saw it! It's a bonus, imo, that it came from music. Very cool
that your children are exposed to YES!

Yes music reminds me of what perhaps "space" sounds like. Visions of
Hubble telescope pictures come to mind while listening to it now a
days. Kalidescope in earlier years........

I'm glad you shared your experience. Sharing stories of the heart can
be a life saver, too.

Blessings,
Tammy

Guy,
I did not know it was even on there! I feel stupid! That is one album
I do not have. I'll have to check that out! Thanks for letting me
know about it!
You said it was a reprise, as in the "reprise" they did on "Fragile"
kind of thing, or is it just totally different?

Mark

I haven't posted here before so...

Anyway,

Mark,
you mentioned the song We Have Heaven (from Fragile). What do you
think of its reprise on The Ladder?

Dear Kimberly -
You must be one courageous soul! What a very moving story. I am very
glad that you are still here! And we are very grateful for your words!

Yes music has touched me too. The music has had quite an effect on
me. So it's nice to hear when their music effects someone else in a
meaningful way as well. I don't feel as alone either.

Wow! "Thank you for the music that gives hope, inspiration, and brings
divineness to my life and others." They'll see this somehow, someway!

That says it all...hope, inspiration, and divineness! The music gives
so much hope. I don't think they even know how much hope they spread.
Which is really a good thing. That way Yes are just instruments...
instruments for the good of all! And for the good of
the soul! (ok, ok, I hear you out there..."Soul Food." WELL, IT IS!)
Our souls NEED nurturing! Thank God there is music that is beyond the
grasp of our minds. In other words, a place were words cannot go. A
place were there is only music.

Inspiration - you can honestly say that Kimberly and mean it
because "inspire" is to breathe, to become alive, isn't it!

Sometimes I speak about the song "We Have Heaven" as blending the
Divine world with this earthly world and thereby bringing the
spiritual down to earth. And that from our human perspective, what we
percieve is either the Divine world or this earthly world. And that
Yes music sees this situation as the Divine world AND this earthly
world, transforming one into the other.

I think I can speak for this group when I say that, we are very glad
that you have your love of music back Kimberly!

Mark

night this guy came through my line and asked do you like music have
you heard of YES? I hadn't so he let me listen for abit and I was
hooked. Little did I know that in the years to come it would save my

Time went by and I got married. To young I think looking back now.
But a few weeks into the married life I found out I had made a
dreadful mistake. As years went by my love of music, life and basic
hope left. On one particular night after a really bad day I felt
there was no reason to go on. I felt my mate hated me in the actions
he showed to me, I felt betrayed by my family for they seemed to take
his side and did nothing to comfort me. So being a creature of habit
I can do nothing without music, I turn on some YES music and the
90125 vhs tape with the sound off. I had all I needed to end my
misery and was just about to start when And You And I came on the
tape where it goes and you and I go down the valley to the river.....
about that time they zoomed in on Chris's face and he had a look in

exact purpose is but I do know it has to do with music. I had bad
days after that but when things seemed so dark I can see that look on
Chris's face and Jon's lyrics and the music so clearly and I know I
can go on.

I since have divorced and raising my two children alone, but they are
exposed to YES music constantly and they to are learning what a
experience it is. I now have my love for music again and life is
wonderful.

When I finally get to meet YES and I say thank you, they may just
think its just a fan saying the usual things, but I hope one day they
know that if there hadn't been YES and a song called And You And
I ... theres a good chance I would not be here. So YES... Jon,
Chris,Alan,Steve, Trevor, Rick and Tony Thank you for the music
that gives hope, inspiration, and brings divineness to my life and
others.

So Tammy, you mean we are not going to drown in this ocean? (He said
with a smile and a very slight bit of sarcasm :) Seriously though,
yes, yes, yes, in the wave's equality they (we) ARE all free!!! The
waves are equal with all the other waves, AND all the different waves
are equal with the ocean too! (Is that TOO blasphemous?)

Are't those lyrics...mmmm. They're sacred!You don't want to ruin them
by adding more words!(But this forum is about words. We have a
paradox. It's been said that "when you are in the middle of a
paradox, you are close to the truth.")

Yep, I can tell you took those lyrics to work with you. Just like
Yes's music, this "Requiem for the Americas" by Jonathan Elias builds
to an emotional climax with "Far Far Cry." In my opinion, it is done
so well, so intelligently, so naturally.

I LOVE that song! I love to crank it in my headphones!(I AM in an
apartment afterall!)

Wholeographically,
Mark

Let's visualize an ocean, and all the waves represent all the
different expressions of music, all the different religions and
denominations, all the different ideologies, and even all the
different kinds of people. A lot of these waves focus on how to deal
with the other waves, focusing on the surface.

Now let's pretend that just one of those waves is Yes music.
Here is a wave that points to the depths of the ocean...AND the
surface as well.

The music of Yes wave is unique in that it sees how a wave is the
ocean itself and is a natural part of the ocean. It sees how it
exists for a short time and then merges back into the ocean.

This kind of wave does not analyze it's existence in relation
to the ocean as if the wave were separate from the ocean. This wave
not only *feels* connected to the ocean, but is *certain* - in an
unspoken kind of way - certain that it is connected to the ocean. It
is certain that it is connected to all the other waves - certain that
it is connected to the deep - certain that it is connected to all the
living things in the ocean's depths - certain.

"As armoured movers took approach to overlook the sea"

"Now that you find, now that you're whole"

Thanks Tammy!
What insight indeed! The quality of their insight is what has kept
me, and so many more, coming back for more. To me Yes music has
always filled a hunger in myself and others that starve for meaning
and depth that is for real, that is authentic. You could even say it
is *the kind of* insight that Yes has always, somehow, possessed. The
shape, the sound, the colour, and the unique style of their insight
is very genuine and very exciting.

For me, Yes's insight has pointed to a very human, very down to
earth, and very natural kind of spirituality, which has inspired
their music to function as an instrument for the good of all.

Lately, I've likened this natural kind of spirituality of Yes's music
as a "secular spirituality." A spirituality intrinsic to the
common person in the everyday, workaday world. This is a kind of
spirituality that you and me and everyone deserves! It is accessible
to all! It is innate! It is practical! It is also very empowering,
for as we are able to embrace the "hugeness" of what Yes music points
to, embrace the power, the energy, the love being expressed, accept
the paradox of our individuality naturally blending with the whole -
the universe, then we too will contain the ability to feel and
express the power, energy, and love we hear in Yes's music!

Namaste,
Mark

Hi All,

It's truly amazing what insight the writers of YES songs possess(ed!)
I didn't start listening to YES until I was in highschool. I only
remember feeling so uplifted by the HUGE sound. Their music always
made me think of space ships!(Couldn't have been those 601 Bose I had,
LOL!) I guess Spielberg must have thought the same thing, because in
1977, the year I graduated... Encounters of the Third Kind came out.
Whhhooohhhooo!!

What a wonderful experience Mark!!!

Love,
Tammy

Yes first sounded it's chord within me when I was around 12 years
old. I was walking along my neighborhood street and Yes's song "We
Have Heaven" was playing in my head. Suddenly, "I got it!" I
understood what a celebration of life and love this song was! But
also, all of Yes's music as well! I suddenly saw the "We will have
Heaven in the future" belief, morph into my present life. "Yes, we do
have Heaven, now!" I felt incredibly expanded! Incredibly grateful! I
felt as if I was being lovingly held within a feeling of connection
to all people and life!

Has anyone else felt these feelings surrounding Yes's music?

Mark

I truely believe this. We are ONE. (By the way, I'm not yelling when
I capitalize like this, it's just that it's the only way I can
emphasize my speech with this font or lack of.)

>

I'm more in tune with the puzzle pieces than the mirror. Mirroring is
a great tool to learn from, however. I feel others that drop into our
lives will mirror to us what we need in the moment and they will keep
mirroring until we GET it, however, sometimes a mirror is just a
mirror like a cigar is just a cigar, imo. There have been times in my
life when I just kept trying to see the lesson that the mirror was
reflecting to me and finally a great wise person told me, "Hey,
sometimes it just IS a mirror, and there's no lesson or reason to SEE
the reflection. It just IS." Then I moved on with that in mind and
the person/mirror disolved instantly.

We are AWARENESS. We are the Observer. And when we step back from
what we think is true and just let things happen-- *watching* --then
our true selves spring forth! We are fully conscious in the NOW!
This type thing sure brings a lot of AH HA's with it and those are SO
fun!

Try listening to music and staying fully present with it, hanging on
every note, hanging on every word......it's so refreshing to be that
alert THAT present! Just say YES! :-)

I'm eating your food!

Yes, I love the idea of the hologram model. That being that the part
is the whole and the whole is the part! Translation: We are one as
you have said! Or, each of us is a reflection of each other, and all
life. Or, as the American Indians lived - all life is connected.

I like to imagine a jigsaw puzzle in which each of the pieces are a
mirror, and each piece is a reflection of the whole puzzle picture.
(If any artist out there thinks that they can draw such a unique
image let me know.)

Yes, and as we can embrace this holographic self, meaning truly
feeling that "I am" an important part of this part-in-the-whole/
whole-in-the-part life, a holographic circuit is completed, is lit
up, and I feel "centered." Or as a Native American might say, "Ho, I
am full."(Now, feel free to remind me of this. It's one of
those "easier said than done" kind of statements.)

Namaste,
Mark

Hello Hello Kimberly! Glad to have you here!
I too am excedingly grateful for the music of Yes in my life! What a
beautiful thing to be able to put on a CD, tape, or album (?) and
have this radiance, joy, celebration, and energy comming from the
speakers! And it is for me! Like you said, quite a "soul charger!"

You mentioned "Magnification," if you haven't already, check out my
post "19 Re: Some loving people!" I talk about my feelings about "In
The Presence Of" and "Turn Around..."

And talking about "lifting my spirits," how about those lyrics in
Turn Around, "...now I'm standing tall Standing on Sacred Ground"

Hi Mark,
Hope you are feeling better today. I've heard from several friends
lately about how they are feeling.

I'm wondering if it's got something to do with the Sirius Star Gate
that opened up last Tuesday and closes today? I'm thinking this new
energy is showering down on us and we are trying to adjust to
it...causing aches and pains and some disconnection.

I've not been feeling disconnected from other human's so much as I've
felt disconnected from my own center lately. Since we are all ONE I
guess that COULD mean everyone, huh? LOL!

Food for thought....

Off to work!

Love and Light,
Tammy

I feel it could be truly helpful, truly human, and for the good of
all to be open to the possibility that in our own personal aloneness,
our own losses, our own sadness, our own tears, our own failures, our
own isolation, our own feelings of contraction and fear and pain, and
our own hopelessness and despair, that it is a natural thing to
transform ourselves into who we think we truly are...to take how I
use to define myself and expand into a new definition of myself.

I found this on the Net:

"Nothing retains the shape of what it was,

And Nature, always making old things new,

Proves nothing dies within the universe,

But takes another being in new forms." (Roman poet Ovid [AH-vid] 43
B.C.-A.D. 18)

And this: "Greatest of mythical birds, the phoenix, a creature sacred
to the sun, is the triumphant symbol of rebirth and renewal of the
human spirit."

And this: "The shining bird of fable forever renews itself like the
sun."

And lastly from Jon Anderson who so often uses the sun in his
lyrics, "The sun will lead us, our reason to be here."

Dedicated to Phoenix Friends everywhere,
Mark

For some reason I'm not feeling too good today. I think I'll go
listen to "I Get Up, I get Down." That song helps me through these
times. That song helps me feel that there is hope that my humanness and
my Divineness do live together.

Last year I started thinking about 2005 and what it would bring. I
thought of the Phoenix many times in comtemplating what's happening
spiritually in these times. I've said many times in the last few
months that 2005 is a time to get things done, rise UP and be the
creator god/goddess that you ARE!!! It's happening! We are all
getting where we are supposed to be at record speed. Manifesting
instantly.

Have you seen the movie What the Bleep?

Good phrase! Yes, they have given me, and a lot of people, a
spiritual boost for many years. Their consistency... consistency...
of "seeing the glass half full," and consistency of the music &
lyrics being a wonderful and unique match, a unique marriage, creates
a "child" (if you will), a third and magical ingredient, that is a
non-physical spirit! (IMHO)

> I got the first CD in the mail YESterday. Magnification!
My current favorite is "In The Presence Of." Especially part
iv "Turn Around and Remember" (or Sacred Ground). "Turn around and
remember that when it gets so low, as you finally hit the ground.
Turn around and remember that now you're standing tall...standing on
sacred ground!"
For me the music & the lyrics together point to the hope that,
like the Phoenix bird, we can and will rise from the ashes of
despair into sacredness. The same spirit that is found in "Soon" (the
end of the Epic "The Gates of Delirium").

Totally Tammy! If the music and the lyrics are as a marriage, you
don't get the whole picture if you just talk to the wife, or just to
the husband. Talking to both of them will give you a clearer picture.
And that picture is what Yesfans are (and have been) so excited
about!!! (Of course, there are others too)
That magical third imgredient, that spirit, is...it calls to us.
Similar to how spirituality (a personal relationship with the
Creator (?), calls to Spiritual Seekers.

Hi Mark and All,

I'm blushing! Tee Hee. Hard to make a biker blush, but you did it.
:-) I feel the same way about you and Connie. Two spirited gifted
people that I'm blessed to know.

I'm looking forward to participating and getting to know (again) the
spiritual boost that YES music hands out.

I got the first CD in the mail YESterday. Magnification! I wanted to
hear the music (again, it's been a long time) end coupled with the
lyrics because I have a feeling that the energy behind that music is
what makes a person feel a certain way about what the lyrics are
saying to them. Does that make sense? I used to listen to a lot of
Yes and Rush way back when.....I just got back into Rush last year, so
it was great timing for YES NOW.

I have a wacky schedule, so bare with me! I'll be back. *rubbing
hands together*

Love,
Tammy

OK, I know I said I wanted this place to be a safe place of substance
writing, but I also said it is a loving place. And so, some of the
most loving people I know are Tammy and Sam (Click on the "Photos" to
the left and you will see them on their Harleys.)

I invited Tammy to this group and she right away got four Yes CDs!
Eventhough I told her that wasn't necessary because, in my opinion,
she didn't really need to know a whole lot about Yes's music and that
she could respond to others thoughts and feelings about Yes's music,
especially their spirit - still - I wasn't going to stop her!

Her enthusiasm gets me excited about the possibilities of spiritual
seekers learning about the joy, depth, and celebration found in Yes's
music! And about the possibilities of fans of Yes's music learning
about...I don't know...the wonderment, the love, the excitement of
our own natural spirituality within ourselves and our own very
personsal relationship with the Creator.
To me....Yesfans..............or......Spiritual Seekers
         / \ / \
        | | | |
         \ / \ /
       Spiritual Seekers Yesfans
                                                   .....are a circle.

I strongly feel that each of these groups do *deserve*, and can
benefit from, the other!

Groups are great for connecting and learning. To me, Yes music and
spirituality is all about connecting with life and learning and being
open to other peoples beliefs, thoughts, and inner feelings about
meaningful things!

Thanks Tammy! Happy listening. Your inspiration is always welcome
here!

We all have different interpretations of Yes's music and lyrics. I
feel that it's a wonderful thing that we all have our own unique
colors and can share them! Truly, Yes's lyrics paint quite a broad
spectrum. Because I perceive Yes's music as open-minded and
affirming, I fancy this group to be open and affirming as well.
I'd like to express my own interpretive "color" to the last part of
the song "I'm Running" from their album "Big Generator."
------------------------------
*There in the heart of millions
*Seen as a godsend to us
*There stands our future -I feel that in reality, humanity contains a
natural goodness that was, is, and will be given to us by the
Creator. An automatic birthright. A hope that we can trust in.
*There can be no denying -I perceive that it is normal, but not
natural, for people to deny (hide) their own innate goodness.
*Simple as A B C D -Instead of the resistance, pain, difficulty, and
energy used up in denying our innate goodness, Yes offer the
possibility that it is as simple as childsplay. (Boy, do I need to
learn this! Sometimes I feel like the king of making things too hard!)
*There stands our children's lives -In trusting in our own innate
goodness, I feel there is more of a chance that our children will too.

*All in the sharp step
*As one together -Yes's vision sees that we need to "step" boldly and
together in order to evolve.
*All in all we race
*As one
*This time -Their vision sees that we save ourselves time and pain if
we stay focused and together.

*A simple peace
*Just can't be found
*Waste another day
*Blasting all their lives away -Validating our humanness, our
sometimes hopelessness.
*I've heard the thunder underground
*Tunneling away
*At the very soul of man
*At the very soul of man -Our sometimes human pain runs deep.

(Chorus)
*And I'm running
*Running
*I'm Running (earlier *Through a new world) -Yes feel an urgency in
the allowing of ourselves to be whole and helping the world be whole.
Note (earlier Chorus) that the word is not "to," but "through." They
are not wanting to escape from this world, they want to stay and
attempt to transform it here by one of the most effective means -
music. Music can help make the world whole.

*See through science -I personally perceive this to mean, seeing
beyond rigid, cold logic...
*Part of a back door -...and it is behind logic...
*A door made up of doors -A gateway to a place that is beyond the
logic of the mind...
*To an endless time -...beyond the time bound mind to a timelessness
that is perceived from the heart.
*To a new world -Shifting from "through" to "to", Yes affirm that in
the activity of transforming this world by behaving as if it were a
whole world, it is then possible to transcend it.

(* "...heart of millions...")

*Hear this voice -The "voice" of our own innate goodness.
*Now and forever
*This time, brothers in time -We, who are within time, on this earth.
*Is it hard to take
*Take this choice -To Yes, feeling and radiating our own personal
innate goodness is a choice, and they suggest it is possible that it
can be an easy choice.
*Is it hard to find
*Now and forever -It's always (and all times) easy to discover.
*This fire brothers of fire -Humanity's innate goodness is a self-
love that burns in our soul.
*Hard to find
*As it kicks so hard
*Hard to find
*As it kicks on time -To me, this is like saying that making the
simple choice for our own innate goodness "rocks," and is on time
with who we are.

(* ...heart of millions...)

(* ...sharp step...)

Namaste,
Mark

Hello to you all,

I have felt that the vast majority of Yes's music is spiritual in
nature, without them necessarily intending it to be so. It just
happened. This sort of artistic ease on their part allowed an
environment which inspired a spirit to naturally emerge within their
music.

I feel that this is true for ourselves as well. If we can embrace the
idea that our spirituality (a loving relationship with the Creator)
is a natural part of who we are, we too can allow our spirituality to
emerge, to become a reality (A continual learning process for all of
us).We cannot fail to have a relationship
with this Living Intelligence. It is life itself. We DO have Heaven!
And everyone of us has a natural intelligence that deserves that it
be shared.

In the autumn of 2004, I started giving local presentations about the
music of Yes and their spirituality entitled "Spiritual Music As
Expressed By Yes - A Secular Spirituality"
www.hcsi.com/mark/webdoc13yes.htm
This talk contains a short video intro, talking that highlights Yes
music as optimistic, hopeful, spiritual, an instrument for the good
of all, and choice sections from eight of their songs. Many portions
of the talk came from Thomas Mosbo's excellent book "Yes - But What
Does It Mean?"

I often feel moved that Yes's spirit has survived within the secular
world! To me, this is very hopeful for all of our own innate
spirituality. To have such powerfully loving, exuberantly
articulate, joyful and celebratory music in the ordinary day-to-day
world is awe inspiring, and teaches me how I too can be a living
example of what is in my heart of hearts.

I know there are many like-minded individuals who need (and deserve)
to have a place to communicate these intelligent thoughts and
feelings. **This online community is intended for all people who wish
to share in the deeper, unseen aspects of Yes's music,
and in all life.**

If you are so inclined, please feel free to join us. Bring your OWN
thoughts, feelings, intelligence, theories, interpretations,
perspectives, points-of-view, spirituality, and love.

There is only one thing that I request; *to do to others as you would
want them to do to you.*
