Hey you lovers of branches and roots...
My wife and I purchased our 2009 tickets at last years event, we have
since re-located to Nashville and will, sadly be unable to attend this
years Wintergrass festival. We have two weekend passes that we wish to
sell. Please contact me if you are interested. We can discuss a much
discounted price for them. Sure wish we could make it back for the
event. Our loss, your gain. :-(

Sarah --

Hope this helps. Your needs may be different than the
advice I can give, but with any luck I can give you
some information that will solve your problems.

Take either the train, public transit from Seattle, or
the Greyhound to Tacoma Dome stations. There's a
light-rail line that takes you within a block of the
hotels.

There's jamming in the hotel lobbies constantly,
literally all night long. So if you need to kill some
time, just bring your banjo (or whatever you play) and
you'll be welcomed.

If you're worried about the late-night times that the
busses don't run, there's no question that there will
be people playing music in the lobby at 3 a.m. You'll
find places to either play or listen to music all
night long.

And if you see the fiddler with the tye-die socks.
come up and say hello.

Wintergrass is wonderful and you'll have fun.

peace,

Randy

I'm still without a ride, and I want to go badly enough that I'm
figuring I'll rely on the buses. But between the end of festival
shenanigans Friday night and the beginning of buses to Seattle
Saturday morning there's about 3 hours that I'd rather not spend
wandering the cold dark streets of Tacoma. Any advice on what to do
during that time? Is there a Denny's or anything else open 24 hours
that serves coffee? Will the hotel staff frown upon me curling up on a
couch in the lobby? Does anyone have a room with some floor space and
wouldn't mind letting a nice, clean, courteous young lady curl up
there for a few hours?

Let me know ASAP!

So I thought I'd throw this question out to those of you with more knowledge.

I called the LaQuinta and have only gotten a voice mail, where I left a message but have net
yet received a return call.

Are there any other hotels, close to wintergrass, that anyone would particularly recommend,
or strongly suggest not choosing, in the area? I'm not just referring to the hotel itself but to
its location in relation to the music venues.

I am considering the best western. Any thoughts on that hotel?

Thanks.

Short notice I know but a great opportunity!

Tacoma WA starting Tuesday Feb. 19th. All academy classes taught by
members of the Infamous Stringduster....the Festival lineup is amazing!

Check it out: http://www.acousticsound.org/

I bought an academy pass for the mandolin session and a 3 day festival
pass for $440. The academy pass can be transferred to any instrument. I
will sell for a reduced rate.

Our old girl(retriever mix) has cancer and is going downhill fast and I
cannot make the festival.

I would like to sell my ticket so if you are interested, give a call!

Thanks! Breece

You're right, but there is a bus that leaves at 4:20am. I suppose it just
depends on how
much jamming you're planning to do.
You could also try rideshare on Craig's list. That is often a good source of
transportation
at odd times. It's also an ok place to look for cheap lodging.

Patrice,
The schedule on the Sound Transit page for the 594 says the last one
leaves for Seattle from the Tacoma Dome stop at 10:23 pm...where is
this all-night route? It could be my saving grace!

Hi Mark:
Route 594 on Sound Transit runs all night long. Here's a link to
their schedule pages. You can catch the bus right at the Tacoma Dome
Station, which is also where you pick up the free LINK to the hotel.
Late at night, after the LINK stops running our festival shuttle will
take you to the Dome Station.

Hope that helps,
Patrice
