hi i have a XL-1 also and macosX and midiquest an am too finding issues getting
it to work
the best luck I have had is by selecting the Proteus 1000 as the instument type
and it seems
to work using that profile sort of

the xl-1 is based on the proteus 2000 (and 1000) from memory
