That is indeed the case, I just bought an empty one from a good friend and
even though it still lists sounds in the USER area they do not play. Now
for the new problem and yet another stupid question. I got a ROM that may
or may not have come from a Ensonique ZR 76. I'm not sure I put it in my
empty P2K and it identifies itself as QROM it does indeed contain a patch
called the perfect piano and I'm extremely happy with the sounds on it, so
that's not the issue. What is an issue is that the USER banks all read
EMPTY should not have copies of the sounds on the ROM been copied to the
USER area as the ROM cards on my other P2K and XL1 do? I added the XROM to
my XL-1 and it's sounds showed up in the USER area on the XL-1 and it seems
the ROMs I've added to my other P2K (Protozoa, Beat Garden, Techno Synth
Construction Yard, plus the composer that was already there) are all copied
to the USER area.. I did a reset on the thing, but it doesn't copy the
sounds over to the USER area. I tried doing a write of a sound from QROM
000 bank 0 to USER 000 bank 0 it said it did it but there was no sound in
the USER 0000 0 location when done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I did upgrade the OS to 2.26 already.
I can't believe E-Mu stopped making these things, yes I know everyone is
going to VSTs but there's something to be said for not tying up hardware and
memory in the computer to produce the sounds that these units do so very
well.
