New Shows <http://aethyric.blogspot.com/2009/07/new-shows.html>
We have three shows coming up at The Haunt this summer. First, in
connection with Binary, the Haunt's Goth night, we have Psyche
Corporation <http://www.psychecorporation.com> from NYC on Sunday, July
12th. Only $3 at the door and doors are at 9pm. Psyche Corporation will
go on around 10:30 or 11...
Then, on Friday, July 31st, we have Break of Reality
<http://www.breakofreality.com>, 3 cellos and a percussionist from NYC.
Check out their clips we have on our YouTube
<http://www.youtube.com/LastExitLost> page to sample just how amazing
this band is. Also on that night, headlining will be Cortland rockers
New Animal <http://www.myspace.com/newanimalmusic>. There will be one
more band added, we are just waiting for confirmation. The show is only
$5 and Break of Reality start promptly at 10pm.
The 31st is also the tentative date for the launch of our new DVD
series. Xtreme Soundscapes ended awhile back. This new series will be
called The Joe and Dave Show, or some derivative thereof. More details
and online viewing will be available at the Xtreme Soundscapes
<http://www.xtremesoundscapes.com> Site.
And finally, on Friday, August 21st we have Others
<http://www.myspace.com/others>, Angels Beneath Me
<http://myspace.com/angelsbeneathme>, and Murder Squad T.O.
<http://www.myspace.com/themurdersquadto> playing, possibly with one more.
Obviously, we have a lot going on, and a whole new redesigned Xtreme
Soundscapes page, with all kinds of live stuff and interviews on it.
Hope to see you at some of the shows!

Hey, our next Last Exit for the Lost Concert (formerly Xtreme
Soundscapes) will be Saturday March 7th at Castaways in Ithaca. After
some line-up issues, we finally have a kickass lineup we are happy with.
We have, from Syracuse, Zadoc... and the Nightmare
(www.myspace.com/zadocnightmare), with their Gothic Hard Rock on early
in the night.
We also have Children of the New Sun (www.myspace.com/newsunrocks
<http://www.myspace.com/newsunrocks>). These guys are from Rochester and
have an old school metal sound, ala Queensryche. This is the first show
they have ever played for us, and we're really happy to get them on the
bill.
Finally, we have Loki the Grump (myspace.com/lokithegrump) from NYC.
Female fronted Hard Rock / Punk. They played Ithaca few times now for
the Girls Rock Girls Rule tour, and have been featured on the Xtreme
Soundscapes DVD's.
There will likely be one more band added to the bill, we are just
waiting for confirmation.
In addition, though, we will have the show hosted by, the one, and
fortunately only, Crappy the Clown (crappytheclown.com). He will be
entertaining and performing in between bands.
There should be full details later in the week, the show will be just $5
and the doors are at 8pm, first band at 9. This will also be Foul Mouth
Girl's birthday show, and who knows what lies in wait for her...

Halloween Costume Party at The Haunt in Ithaca, NY on November 1st.
Doors are at 4, first band on by 5, and the show is done by 10. $5 (Over
21) and $7 (under 21) at the door and 16+.
Carnindyle from Buffalo open the show with some weirdness, then...
Product of Hostility from Hornell with some heavy Thrash
Screaming Protest (formerly the Lewdies) from Moravia with some Crust Punk
Then the G-men from Canada with some more Punk
The Year of Arson! from Rochester with some brutal Metal, and then
Others close the show with their Horror Gothic Metal Punk stylings...
Also just added a new section to the website (www.thelastexit.org) where
you can check out our three previous shows, all should be up soon, I
think all but two of the bands are up at the moment, so enjoy...
Hey, we have a show coming up Saturday (July 26th) at The Haunt, Ithaca,
NY, it's an early show with 3 bands, with doors at 6. This is the second
"Last Exit for the Lost Presents..." Show.
7pm - Cootie Shot - Young kids from Montrose, PA, doing a cross between
80's pop and old school punk. They played the Girls Rock Girls Rule show
last year. www.myspace.com/c00tiesh0t.
8pm - Polyethylene - They are from Boston, they kind of sound like
alternative bands from the 80's like Belly and Lush, mixed with some
Sonic Youth or Neurosis. So, almost ethereal, and then dark and brooding
and intense. They're pretty awesome.
http://www.myspace.com/polyethyleneband.
9pm - Castle Bravo. Progressive Hard Rock. They haven't played a show
yet in 2008, so this is their return. http://www.myspace.com/castlebravo1.
Oh, and Dave and Joe will be hosting it. If you can, please come out...
Show is only $5.

It will ROCK. A Lot. A night of Hard Rock, Punk, Comedy, and Dissonant
Indie Rock. Come out and support us and the bands...
So, the FINAL Xtreme Soundscapes Show will be May 31st at Castaways. It
will also be the Volume VII DVD Release Show, so if you want a free DVD,
this will be the first and last opportunity to get it. You will, of
course, be able to watch and download it from the website, though.
Anyways, the show, the lineup is New Animal (Modern Rock from Cortland),
Check Engine (Hard Rock / Metal from Ithaca), Shadows in the Sun (kind
of an Alice in Chains vibe from Binghamton), and Armageddon Monks (who
you should already know - Hard Rock / Metal from Ithaca). The show
starts at 9pm, and will be $5 at Castaways in Ithaca.
www.castawaysithaca.com
On the other hand, we also have a show this Friday at The Haunt. This is
NOT an Xtreme Soundscapes Show. This one will be a Last Exit for the
Lost presents... Show. It will be different. Joe and Dave will be
hosting it and introducing the bands. Oh, and the bands, the lineup is
The Lewdies (couple of the kids from Rabid doing a Punk side project) at
9, then Scarcophagus (Death Metal from Auburn), Others (Horror Punk from
Binghamton), and Angels Beneath Me (Chaotic Death Metal from Cortland).
This show will be brutal.
So, that's what's upcoming. We'll be doing fewer shows under the Last
Exit banner, but we will be uploading more stuff online. We intend, if
all goes well, to allow Joe and Dave to host kind of a variety show, and
it will all be available regularly online at www.xtremesoundscapes.com.
And the stuff that is there will remain, and we will add more live shows
as time goes on.

Xtreme Soundscapes Show - August 11, 2006 The Haunt, Ithaca, NY
The show opened just after 8pm (there was some initial confusion about the start time due to some miscommunication) with Chamber Law. Female fronted Death Metal, very rhythmic and agressive, and rather original. D generally surprises people when she starts her gutteral onslaught, and even more so when you realize she can actually sing as well.
Following up Chamber Law was Angels Beneath Me. Intricate Death Metal from Cortland. Personally, I love the way their songs build and explode. Very, very intense...
After ABM was the first appearance of Crappy the Clown. He came out, smoked his giant crack pipe and sang a kareoke version of "I Wanna Marry a Porno Star" before introducing 137...
137 are from the Rochester area, and can not really be called Death Metal. Nor do they fit in any other category cleanly. Slow and heavy, crushing, yet heavy. Brutal, gutteral, yet mostly understandable vocals. And they even threw in their cover of the Beastie Boys' "Fight for your right to Party"... Very cool...
Crappy the Clown came out and sang his new song, "7 Dirty Words", and then introduced Mahavatar. Extremely original, aggressive Metal, female fronted... They remind me a bit of Crisis, but they don't sound like Crisis. They are more melodic, and they have an almost tribal sound at well. Mahavatar hail from NYC and have just signed to Escapi Records. Amazing performance.
Dormitory Effect, also from NYC, were just as impressive this time around, if not more-so. The least heavy of the bands on the bill, they still easily held their own with the crowd. Crappy tried to fish for them during their set, to no avail.
Chapel Perilous closed off the night, playing their odd, almost Lovecraftian sounding Metal. Hard to classify, they create some odd sounds, and have 2 bass players. Very bizarre and interesting. Heavy, but hard to call Death Metal. They also did a cover of "Aces High", in their own odd style...

So, an overview. Never the Sunshine, started a bit late. Their drummer / vocalist apparently thought the show was at Castaways, understandable as the last couple times they played for us, they played there. Anyway, it all worked out. They played a good, 45 minute set, aside from some technical problems, which seemed to plague all the bands (and for that matter, The Last Exit for the Lost later in the night). They have just recently signed to WoeconstrictoR Records (www.WoeconstrictoR.com) and will be recording a new full length CD this summer. They did their sludgy / doomy thing and played a bunch of new songs that will be on the new album...
Inherence were supposed to be next. They no showed. Being that the vocalist owns a club, I expected a little more professionalism out of them than to do something like that. Apparently, that was my mistake. For the record, they are the only band to ever no show an Xtreme Soundscapes show. On the up side, it allowed Never the Sunshine to play their full set after starting late.
Seasons of the Wolf were up next, and started almost right when they were supposed to. They made the trip up all the way from Tampa, and also seemed to have a good share of technical problems. All in all, though, it was a really good performance. They have sort of that old Gothic Metal vibe going on. They have fun with it, and really put everything into their performance. They plan on coming back up before the end of the year to probably do a CD Release show in this area. Really cool, down to earth guys.
Sun Descends had played one of our earliest shows, and now they were back, with a new drummer, and an absolutely phenomenal set. Pure, unadultrated thrash. Incredibly tight and aggressive, and they work so very well with each other on stage. They are off to do a European tour in a few weeks, so this was sort of their warmup show.
Bone Jar were the headliners, and, as usual, put on a rock solid performance. They will be putting out their CD finally, sometime soon, as well. This night, they played a slightly shorter set than usual, with all the technical problems throughout the night, things ran a bit late, but they are so very into each and every performance, and they are so damned tight when they play. The crowd was so very into both them and Sun Descends, it was rather cool. They seemed to avoid the curse of tech problems the other bands had, instead we had planned to do a bit where Just Joe was to be wrapped in Bubble Wrap and tossed into the pit. Unfortunately, the wrap was locked in Joe's car, and they called him up on stage for the bit. So I guess we gave them their tech problem for the night. But they handled it like professionals, they all gave Joe a hug, and then they moved on...
So, all in all, not the crowd that we had at the last release show, which was suprising, but there was still a good crowd, and they really seemed to enjoy themselves. Also on the suprising side, we had free copies of the new Xtreme Soundscapes DVD there, and only about half the people there took a copy. Do we not make it clear that we are giving away free DVD's no strings attached? I do not know.
I do know, that tentatively, the next XS Show is June 24th with Missing Marcus... And remember, you can now watch Vol IV right on the Xtreme Soundscapes website... And our thanks to the bands that were there, and to everyone who came out to see the show.
