... The one thing that comes to mind is using active sensing. If it is receiving active sensing data, the TX7 will mute all sound if the active sensing stops....

True, arpeggiators probably weren't as commonplace then as they are now although the Juno60 and Jupiter8 certainly had them and they made quite a splash....
