I recieved you message welcome to the group.I don't
have all the details yet,but we are trying to put
togather a second run. There may be options on
color, either blk or chocolate, and possibilities of
long sleeve version. This is just the preliminary
stage, nothing set in stone.I'll let everyone know as
soon as I know.I'm guessing they will be between
$20.00 and $30.00,but thats a guess.

Subject: [YamahaDX] CX5M Music Computer - For Sale

Hello,

I have a Yamaha CX5M Music Computer that I would like to sell. The
following items are included:

1 Yamaha CX5M Music Computer and 2 different manuals
1 Yamaha RF-02 RF Modulator
1 Cassette Recorder Cable (patch transfer to optional cassette
recorder)
1 Yamaha SFG-05 FM Sound Synthesizer Unit II and manual
1 Yamaha YRM-103 DX7 Voicing Program and manual
1 Yamaha YRM-304 DX7 Voicing Program II and manual
1 Yamaha YRM-502 FM Voicing Program II and manual
1 Yamaha YRM-302 RX Editor manual (no program)
39 Cassettes of patches
39 Backups Cassettes of the first 39
18 Blank Cassettes

The unit is in great condition. I used it with my TX416 for awhile
but I haven't needed it for awhile. So it must go. The best offer
takes it. I'm more interested in money (Paypal or Money Order) but I
might entertain trades. Buyer pays actual shipping charges determined
at time of sale. I can be reached at 0uder0 at NO SPAM excite com.

Thank you
George

You can use the dx7 carts with the dx7II with the YAMAHA adp-1 adapter,
brand new, in yamaha boxes and OEM wrapped plastic. We have them $85
each plus shipping.
The roms work the rams work, but you cannot save a dx7II bank to a dx7
smaller ram only the RAM 4.
Hope that helps, Best Wishes

Hi Francz,

It is a pitty. I've received a Rom card as a gift and won't be able to use
it soon. Could you give me a link for your place where I can find the
adapter? If it is against the group proceedings please e-mail me privately.

Thank you for your answer

have a DX21, when I midi out to my pc interface the midi activity
light on the romio mido I/O cable blinks rapidly and constantly and
doesn't seem to transmit data to Sonar HS4 through the usb2 port (works
fine with a casio ps20 dig piano so there's no problem with the cable))
but will accept sysex data from the pc/sonar - transmit channel is set
to Midi ch 1, and recieve in sonar is set to the same. It seems as if
the dx21 is sending constant data from somewhere and locking up the
whole conglomeration. Please don't tell me it is incompatible. am i
missing a driver, or possibly a setting in sonar - any ideas would be

If I remember correctly, all of the DX and SY keyboards send out a
constant stream of system status bytes, this seems to cause problems
for some software/hardware configurations. I never experienced this
problem because I was able to filter out any data that created a
problem with a Yamaha MEP4 midi event processor in real time. Since
I am committed to hardware sequencing/recording (and have been for a
number of years), I no longer have midi data stream problems in my
setup, having a computer tied in to my system always caused so much
troubleshooting and data transmission problems that it interfered
with my creativity, thus no more computer or software in my rig.

try this site: http://www.burp.nl/dx/

they have some patch banks, and links to more

I'm not sure of the exact sound you are looking for, but often the sounds you hear are created by a combination of the actual instrument and the effects chain after them - things like envelope filters, compression, etcetera can dramatically affect the raw sound of the instrument and that may be some of what you are hearing

Tony Banks used a Prophet 10 for most of his sounds, but I do believe he
also used a Fender '73 too. The Nord Lead has a good approximation in their
banks.

Hi Andy,

I don't know the DX21. But on QX21 there is a software thru that sends the
input data to the midi out. This causes midi feedback loop if not disabled.
Check this out. Also try disabilitating midi thru on Sonar.

Another possibilitie is that it is sending garbage out. Something like CC or
aftertouch streams without being touched (it happened to me).

Tony Banks?  I thought Phil Collins used a Prophet 5 early on.  Later on he probably used a DX7...  That saying I'm a big Phil Collins detractor in spite of his talent on drums.

Of course pretty much all the piano patches the DX7 and its cartidges have are great!  Whether you wanna do slick AOR fare like Collins, or like me want something a bit earthier...

Hi all,
I just added a few new synths to my studio and I'm ready to sell some gear in
order to make
room.

I have a fully loaded TX816 and a DX7. Both are in very good condition. TX816
just had all of
the internal batteries replaced so you won't need to worry about that for
another five to ten
years. ;-)
DX7 has been updated with SER_7 update (updated by Yamaha) so it can transmit on
all 16
MIDI channels and store performance parameter data per patch. It has one or two
marks on it
but otherwise it is a mint condition unit. All the external controls and buttons
work perfectly.
I marked the buttons with braille but that can be removed easily.

E-mail me privately to discuss the shipping and payment details.

During the 90's tony Banks used alot of Korg products 01/W and
Wavestation. So that may be worth checking out. As I understand most of
their later 90's songs were mainly Korg oritated. I remember reading an
interview with Tony Banks himself.

TONY used a tx816 on his invisable touch tour, and
believe it or not only used a tx7 on the last tour,as
for Phil solo stuff I'm not sure.

Hello DXers.I was curious to know if anyone out there knows a place Id
be able to obtain the original chips in the DX7 that are removed when
installing E! I had them stored away safely but thats another story.I
replaced the battery a few months ago and it just will not hold any
memory.(problem ram corrupt)I checked with volt meter and see there is
power going to E! and Ive checked every connection to make sure their
secure.Im totally stumped at this point so Id like to try and remove E!
and put the DX7 back to its original state. If anyone has advice on this
or has had similar problems please let me know Id love like to hear
from you.Thanx everyone.

Hello MadjacK,

The "Problem RAM corrupt" message is normal after you change the battery.
Just try to stop and start few times your synth till you will get the "Welcome to E!" message.
After that you HAVE to follow the initialisation procedure as for a newly installed E! Card.

If after 4-5 stop-start cycles you still don’t get “Welcome to E!” message then check  if you have 3V from battery between pin 14 and pin 28 on memory chips: U2 and U4 (when the DX7 is power-off) .
If you don't, there is more likely a bad contact on J2 connector. If after a pull-out push-back the card you still don’t manage to make it work then PM me, I could send you a set of memory chips for U2 and U4 if you manage to unsolder-solder them or send you a replacement DX7 E! board.

Hello everybody!

My name is josef, and this is my first post. I've had a dx27 for years and this
past november
saved up and bought a DX7mkII-FD over ebay. I recieved it in relatively
pristine condition, a
few scratches on it's underside, but not any other apparent issues.

However, once i hooked it up i noticed a strange, almost quantization noise that
occurs when
I play complex patches. Noise patches, sine waves, industrial bleeps, etc do
not have this
issue but any type of FM piano, organ, string, etc do.

It's not just static or hissing, it sounds almost like digital distortion. It
does not distort the
patch wave itself, but occurs simultaneously.

Any idea what this is? any recommendations?

anything would be appreciated!

_josef

Very interesting, are these internal sounds? If they are
it could be the last owners settings. If you can try
loading some fresh patches from a cart or the
computer.I have an original model dx7 mk1.I'm not sure
if your model has a restore factory default settings
or not,but if it does I would do that first.

the sound is best described as quantization noise... It's not a patch.

You may want to try Craig's List. You may find a seller locally if
you're in the US.

That's a great question. I'm curious too. Mine has
midi which may not have been part of the first
production. Do you make your own sounds?
