Description

YOU'RE SO GAY/ YOU PROBABLY THINK THEIR SONGS ARE ABOUT YOU!/ DON'T YOU?! DON'T YOU?!
We are gay pop star fans in a gay cyberspace community and have created this FABulous gay (GLBT) Pet Shop Boys discussion group. Hetero supporters of gay rights are also wlecome! This group is for the discussion of Pet Shop Boys art and music and its impact on our lives, with a slant toward the queer eye on culture. And of course please cruise the profiles-- what could be gayer than that?
"I could spend several pages discussing 'gay culture,' but for the sake of argument we have contributed a lot. And the simple reason for this is that I have written songs from that point of view. What I'm saying is that I'm gay, and I have written songs from that point of view."- Neil Tennant
Now that's the spirit, Neil, GO FOR IT! Now, let us Petheads discuss the Boys: Neil Tennant, Chris Lowe, and all the other major and minor characters in our own little gay cyber-gettho! Have fun splitting atoms and hairs about gay music and art!
Other gay & bi pop of note: Phranc, Romanovsky and Phillips, Jonsi Birgisson (Sigur Ros), Michael Callen, The Flirations,
Andy Bell (Erasure), Meg Christian, Rufus Wainwright, k.d. lang, Janis Joplin, Billy Strayhorn, The Butchies, bitch and animal, Amy Fix, Morrisey, Dusty Springfield, Allen Ginsberg, Boy George, Lynn Lavner, Brian Epstein (Beatles manager), Cole Porter, Bob Mould, etc
Gay non-pop: John Cage, Tchaikovsky, Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Benjamin Britten
"Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known."
Oscar Wilde
"All that I desire to point out is the general principle that life imitates art far more than art imitates life."
Oscar Wilde
"We are not the first but I am sure we will not be the last. After us will come many other countries driven... by two unstoppable forces: freedom and equality"
On legalizing gay marriage, Jose Luis Rodrigueaz, Prime Minister of Spain
