Do you guys sound anything like the Italian grindcore band
CRIPPLE BASTARDS

Hell! I was checking the multitude of Lps at a friend's house and I
found "Baron Rojo". As I'm not at the last step of Alzeimer (yet), I
remembered that band of the 80', and I think they were Italians. I'm
not sure they were...I know it was a special kind of metal, funny to
hear. I like metal bands that sound different not only by the hard
side of this music, but also by the way to be completely different
from others. I didn't listen cos after that I found an old
Triumvirat, a lot of Strawbs: to be brief prog rock. Amazing! I was
like a child in a Toys Store. I saw the first Scorpions albums, the
really first with Michael Schenker and also "Virgin(s)Killer(s)" with
another drummer that Rarebell. I used to be a prog rock lover before
to see Anvil (called Lips) live. The really first heavy album I
bought after my metamorphosis was "The best of Scorpions". The cover
showed a woman's "hip" with a scorpion on it. I think that they
changed the cover for the CD...

Don't forget that on June 24, in "National Day" in the province of
Quebec. No more headheaches after the St-Jean-Baptiste, I made my

Spanish, you're probably right. I must be honnest and tell you that
Anvil didn't attract me first by the music, more the... yunno. But,
like they were getting more and more popular, it was difficult to see
them on stage and I HAD :) to listen to them...and I found them
great, I still do.......cos I REALLY DON'T SEE THEM LIVE ANYMORE!!

Hi Back here not around here for a long time. Yes Baron Rojo is from
Spain they are still around. They have played in Bolivia before but
never Peru. Baron Rojo relased a new cd in 2001 I have not heard it.
I heard the one in 1997 I think it was called Desarme or something
like that. The first song is very Thin Lizzyish. Check the BNR Metal
pages for more info on Baron Rojo links. I have heard most of Baron
Rojos stuff but not some of their last 2 cds plus some of their late
80,s stuff. Spoony Can you help us out on this??? Hey is it true

Hey Wipy, you're right AnViL is on the schedule to play The Classic
Metal Fest on July 12!! Or are they? Is it true? There is nothing of
this BIG news on the OFFICIAL AnViL website. So for now I will not be
making travel plans. Hey, it's a 10 hour drive from here, you know???
Isn't this the same place that screwed AnViL and some of the other
bands out of their appearance fee last year?? I doubt that they would
be going back there if that was true. So the hell with that Fest! Get
your AnViL asses down here to Albany, NY and play some Real Metal for
some REAL METAL FANS !!

"Bring your Anvil ... in Albany??", why not in Quebec City? I got
nothing against americans, but I just hope that Anvil will play in
their own country, in a town where they got good memories, go in
Mister Deli....We're metal fans too!

Hey Wipy, I become a fan of your messages! If I would have money, I
would go to see ya in Peru Lima. But, for some personal reason I
prefer not to put my feet in this country where we can fing a certain
substance forbidden by my doctor.I went of Halford's site and YEAH!!!
This is HALFORD...hey WOW! He changed his website too, and I just
love the way it looks. The video is excellent.

About Classic Fest 2, I would be glad they play there with other
bands, cos I know Anvil love to play. But do you remember that at
this same festival, Exciter neither didn't get paid? I tried to find
Lips's message in the archives that relates it, but it is too
looooonnngg to reach....

I got the "feeling" that SGS is going to be released maybe later than
July. Just a "feminin intuition"...You see, when Lips don't give any
sign of life like he does actually, it's because he's thinking a lot,
he's a lot anxious or he's a lot busy with his little family. I
noticed that on this board... The Studio where they recorded belongs
to Pierre Rémillard who manages another very well known band (here)
that is recording too, in the same period than Anvil. Maybe there's
some tracks they want to set up or something like that...because they
have been rushed in the time.My opinion is that I prefer wait and
have an amazing album from them, than listen to it and find some
similarities to some songs I heard before. The cover is great,I'm
sure the music is great , lyrics (except Depression) are good.If they
have just few things to set to make this album better, we got to be
patient cos we're all fans, no?

But I repeat, I HOPE SOME VERY NICE SHIRTS WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE
ANVIL WEB SITE (Just a pic of the shirt and the price under it). Come
on! I noticed more a band's name when the name is at the back of the
shirt. I don't have to look at the face of the guy who wear the
shirt. When the guy is cute, I get shy..when, he's not I'm shy anyway.
I live in town, and I got to walk in the same way than the crowd, it
means that I see people's shirt at the back, not in front. IF I have
a shirt with Anvil at the back, young dude, older ones that remember
very well Anvil are going to say:" Hey! Anvil still running, wow!
What do I see there? www.anvilmetalonmetal.com? Great! I'll check it
out...". If a woman wear a band's shirt with the name in front, it
gives nothing except that the guys look at your breast. They'll
forget Anvil to come back to their "animal instinct", lol ;-)

You know, I didn't listen to Baron Rojo that much. I had just an
album or maybe a cassette. I found some Trouble's albums (YAY!)at my
friend's house ! Looking for Acid now!!! This girl sang like Rush's
singer, and was looking heavy! It is a band from Holland and their
albums are still available in France. "Maniac" is my favorite
album...I think they made "Insomniac" too...all those titles fit with
me :)

I had more cassettes than albums, in fact. My friends and I (long
time ago) were going in a "Metal Record Store", where used album were
sold too. Well, in the 80's we were 10 metalheads giving 2$ each
buying an imported album (Acid, Baron Rojo, Picture...). After, we
were making cassettes (we inspired Napster) and we were returning 3
weeks later to re-sell the album to the store. This guy could sell an
imported album once at a good price (brand new), and 6 times at a
lower price (used)!!! They were so many metal shows in Quebec City at
this period, so many metal festival in Montreal...we had to save
money on something. It was during the period between "FiF" and "SoS".

If Anvil goes in South Africa, I hope you'll be there Wipy and take
some pics. Why not a video? This Classic metal festival (they play 1
hour) is a good opportunity to put it on video...for the NORTH
AMERICANS FANS! Now, I need a shirt please......and a VIDEO. :0)

He was really pretty young for "his generation". And he died one day
before the start of a new tour. Heart attack apparently.

IMHO, one of the best ever bass players in rock. He will be missed.

Yes Slug, It's a big lost...The Who's bassist :( But I found it weird
that they decided to continue the Tour and just replaced him. What
kind of show can it gives? Will they be "energized"?

I'm in United States right now and 2 days ago I reminded Lip's lyrics
in the song "Waiting". I went in a drugstore and arrived at the place
to pay. 3 persons before my turn...not so bad. But, they got the
right to pay by check!!! The 3 women paid with a check, holy shit! At
the third, I was showing my teeth like a dog, with saliva around my
mouth..grrrrrrrr. At the first check I said "Well", at the second I
thought "It's not my day" and at the third, I told myself "Stay quiet
Élaine, breath deeply...". Going out this drugstore, the lyrics of
the song that I mentionned up there were sounding in my head.

That is great!!! Ron rocks. I love Sabbath with Ozzy..they recorded
their best songs with him but the Sabbath albums with Dio were some
of there best overall albums.

You don't need one. They guys usually mingle with people afterwards.
They are very approachable.

Sure! Ronnie James Dio...He's just great! He'll be in Quebec City on
July 4 at the Old Port Agora. This place is outside, excellent for
the sound (acoustic and voice) cos there's water all around the stage
(really don't know if it's the water that makes the effect). It looks
like the stage is floating. When you look up at left, you see Le
Château Frontenac  and all the buildings with old green copper on
their roof illuminated, in the Old Quebec...Hallucinating! It's going
to smell "Sativa", believe me.

I saw him on the Mob Rules Tour, and he's a "singer". "Neon Knight"
couldn't be done by another singer than him. "Sign of the southern
cross", "Children of the sea" neither, I think. I saw him in 1985
also, but to be honnest I prefer his voice on Black Sabbath's tunes.
He made good songs in solo, but it's just a matter of taste.

Do you go to the Classic Metal Festival, Dan? I'm not pretty good in
geography, but Ohio is that near Mass.? If you go.....take pics
please!!! We want some new pictures... You don't need a 35 mm, just a
a 10$ Fudji to hide it on you! I think that cameras are allowed
(doesn't matter if they're not!).

Will Lips use his old vibrator, or the brand new "Greek" one. he
should take the greek one if they play some tunes from SGS :) Just to
stay in the spirit of the cover's concept...

You know Tony, I won't see the Dio show. I'm in United States until
middle July. I had to quit my town, to see that they bring some
interesting shows in Quebec City, dam it! In September, I'll be back
in the "North Pole" and see Joe Satriani and KingX in a same show at
the Agora (open air), on September 9 (it will be almost winter!!).
Along St.Lawrence river, it's called "Bring the leather coat",
brrrr...the wind seems to come from the Groenland at this period of
year. We'll have Dreamtheater (I'm not a fan, sorry Slug) on
September too. I "dream" of a Metal Show with 3 bands. Halford-Anvil-
Saxon. I dream.....yeah.

I'll spend your birthday with all the american flags around me. I
thought that we were patriotic in Quebec, but I changed my mind. I
never seen so many american flags, I feel at the Olympic games. I
need to learn my English, cos my writen English is getting better,
but in Quebec City there's no opportunity to speak English at all. My
pronounciation sux. I gesticulate a lot, but they seem to understand
me.
