Yes, what have we here, eh? A small display of scans from old Kerrang!
s that I have been going through, looking for AnViL clippings. Added
today are a seasonal Kerrismas wish from Lips, Lips featured Guitar
Heroes page, Lips munching on a rubber chicken and Kerrang!s review
of Metal On Metal from 1982. All found in the files under "AnViL in
metal magazines". More to come later...

Yeah!

To see Lips and Anvil 20 and 21 years ago. I remember what LIPS wears
on the "guitar hero", because each time that he had that on him a
girls were climbing the stage to grab him. I think he owned it in
1981..."Flash backs" it is called. Is Anvil different from now? Not
that much...maybe just about to be a li'l mature and "monogamous".
Great Xmas poem, it was from the heart!

The band on stage is a lot more like "ONE". I like a lot how Ivan and
G5 plays the song and perform live. But, I don't know anything about
them. Where are they from? In which band did they play? Influences
and all...

Kerrang! a magazine from England was covering Anvil and now, the only
Canadian magazine is stucked on a old argument about Lips and let
Ivan and G5 ignored by the music world. They're both great, and we'll
never know their "stories" just because of a misunderstanding. I
don't understand a stupid thing like that.

Great scans CAT...Thanks.

Ok, there's adds...but the radio stations are amazing. My fave is OLD SCHOOL
HEAVY METAL. The guy keeps some Anvil's songs and I wrote to tell him the link
of the Official Website. In the same time, I suggested some song's titles...and
asked to remove "Never deceive me". I think that Anvil got a lot of heavier
songs.

There's a test that I found called "What kind of metal head are you"...YAY! I'm
a "True Metalhead", one of my friends is a "Prog Metal Head", funny".

re%20You%3F/

NO! As I'm typing, "Never deceive me" plays.....Aww!

I think it's a real good radio and there's many others. I recommend you to sign
in FREE at http://www.live365.com/index.live

You type "Anvil" in searching by "artists" and it shows all the web radios that
have some of their songs. I have crazy flashback listening to it because there's
a lot of songs that I remember. It was playing in some partys in the 80's and I
didn't know who it was before today. I check the playlist and I discover which
bands I use to like and to dislike YEARS ago!!! I didn't change that much. Old
School Heavy Metal is representative of the 80's: Catchy, Heavy and sometimes
very commercial :( The sound is not optimized when we get the free version, but
it doesn’t matter!

I wrote before ( I don't know if it was at the Academy of a letter) to Lips that
I thought that "Hocus Pocus" by Focus would be a great cover songs to insert
some guitar and drums parts. Eliminating the "Yoïloyalalala", the song could be
just "long" enough....cos the original song is "unlimited". I thought and still
think that only Lips guitar and Robb's drum could make this song heavier.

Listening to the radio on the web, I recognized each notes of this song in a old
Metallica song. I remember when Kill them all has been released, reviewers were
talking about a revolution.....a miracle!!! This song "Blitzkrieg" copied notes
by notes this old song that I was listening when I was a kid on a K-Tel record.
I discovered "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath on one of these albums. I think they
were able to put 26 songs on an LP! Jeez....and it was cheap! I'm so deceived
that Metallica made that song.

I added all kind of tests on LINKS on my page...if you got time to kill.
Yess...there's sexual tests.

First, I went on "vibration of doom" website in sound files, and I
didn't see any Avalon listed. It looks bad from the start to search,
ha? One Avalon "has been" in Germany, but their site is now occupied
by a kind of metal forum. It means that they have moved or broke up.
I can't find anything about a Canadian "Avalon".

The best thing that you can do is to return on the site where you
listen to them, and write to a "contact" that is supposed to be
available on this page. He must have all the infos. Sometimes, bands
send only a mp3 to a magazine. They don't have always an album. I
would have to look a little more for your Avalon Wipy, but I got to
rush at the shopping center for DVDs that are in sales.....at HMV.
2/22$.

Kiss the little kid for Xmas,

I really looked for this band Wipy. It's not because one guy of the band is
canadian that they're all. "Absolutely no Avalon".

I'm not going to make some friends writing this. But, it's not to be
unpleasant if I tell my mind, now. I've read the new interview on the
Official web site and I was a lot surprised of the "spirit" of it.
Normally, an interview is supposed to promote or to represent a band.
Well I don't know what was wrong with Lips the day that he answered
to these questions and I don't want to know! He's got the right to
have his own moods and I respect that. I've never heard Lips telling
that he "hated" something...

STEVE: Did you play or do you play ice hockey? Which is your NHL
fave?
LIPS: I hate hockey.

It's too bad cos it's a sport that is practiced in Canada, Germany,
Russia and now in Japan… (???) How many metal fans practice this
sport as a hobby to be in shape? But…"Back to Basics" will be
released at the Spring, the season will be almost over: except the
play offs will be on TV. Did I get old or I heard Lips talking about
Montreal's Canadians and Toronto's Maple Leafs at the PowerPack in
Montreal ? In Quebec City also ant it was to introduce "Blood on the
ice"…I must be confused, jeez!

STEVE: What you will make when ANVIL will not exist more?
LIPS: I will become a decomposer or a florist and push up flowers
from my grave.

It's the joy, ha? Have some prozac, people!

STEVE: Have you ever thought to leave everything?
LIPS: Yes but there is nowhere to run.

That's why the metalheads will be fighting at the bar's doors where
Anvil will play and to get the CD "Back to Basics". The whole
interview is a mistake and it can happens to anybody to not be in a
mood to answer to an interview…but is that necessary to publish it?
Like:

STEVE: Which is your heavy metal dream?
LIPS: To be able to record my CDs without having to watch the clock.

"To be cheap or not to be cheap". The album cover is awesome, but
Lips watches the clock to record, yup…

STEVE: What was the dark/sad period of ANVIL history?
LIPS: All of it!!!!!!!!!!

It must be Anvil way to tell us that they appreciate us, after all
these years? I know it's not... and I know that Lips didn't want to
look that severe. Jeez…I don't know what to say about it.

I hate hockey too.
Actually Lips' wife teases him for writing a song about hockey even
though he hates it.
Brian Slagel (owner of Metal Blade Records) is a huge hockey fan. I I
heard that since Anvil was on Metal Blade at the time, Lips wrote it
for him.

He's saying Anvil will exist until he dies.

He's saying that making music is all he can do. It what he is all about.
