Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" comes from his Peer Gynt
suite. Whilst I'm not in a position to offer a personal
recommendation, there is a BBC Radio 3 programme that surveys
available recordings of particular works and recommends the best. A
1998 review of this piece suggested a recording by the San Francisco
SO under Herbert Blomstedt (Decca E 425 448-2). This is (or was at
the time) a full price release in the UK.
