URGENT:
My name is Arber Dhomi. I am conductor of the Opera and Philharmony
of Kosova. We are interested VERY MUCH to be able to buy the whole
set of the opera of A. Lortzing: Ali Pascha von Janina, so we can
perform it in Kosova. It will be a historical and very beautiful
event for all Albanians there if the Opera of Kosova can have the
partiture and all the parts of this opera.
Can you help us in any way please? Please?

Try a search at

or

Type "Albert Lortzing" and you'll get a list with second hand books.
Some of them are libretti. You can order them online. This is a great
resource!

Hi Kate
If you go to
http://wwwsys.informatik.fh-wiesbaden.de/weber1/opera/lib.htmt
you will find oodles of libretti, including four Lortzing operas,
Undine, Wildschütz, Der Waffenschmied, Zar und Zimmermann.
You will find they have made a minor mistake; click on Wildschütz and
you get Der Waffenschmied, and vice versa. I have been to a
performance of Zar und Zimmermann but none of the others. I like Der
Waffenschmied very much but a live performance is out of the
question. There was a single performance of it in Koblenz in 2002
(commemorating the 200th year of Lortzing's birth, I think) but as I
live in Australia it seemed a bit too far to travel, but actually I
was more put off because the weather maps showed the temperature as
below zero! :)
I was in Berlin a month ago and took a couple of photo's of
Lortzing's statue in the Tiergarten. I'll see how they turn out and
maybe I can post them to this page.

Hey everyone,
I am fairly new to German Romantic Opera (I love it!) and I was
wondering if anyone knew where I could find the libretto for Zar und
Zimmerman. It doesn't matter if it is in German or English.
Thank you
Kate
Thanks for the information - you see, I'm a Lorzing by birth, trying to see if
there's a connection. I've been to Lortzingstrasse in Hamburg, and have
searched the Mormon genealogical library files Salt Lake City, but have come up
empty. I'm familiar with your website but I guess I didn't dig deep enough
there through the genealogy. I have a couple other leads, I'll surely let you
know if I find anything exciting!

Hi,
At my webpage:
http://www.giorgioproductions.com/Lortzing/genealogy.html
you will find, if you scroll to the bottom of the page, a link to
download a genealogy report. You will find here that there is a
descendant:
Lortzing's daughter Caroline married Karl Kraft - who was a business
man and helped Lortzing when he was in Vienna. Their son Karl Kraft
was an actor. He has a son "Albert" Kraft-Lortzing. I think - but I'm
not sure - that he is still alive. If it is possible for you to
contact him, please let me know.

Dear Lortzing fans,
It has been rather silent here for a while, but now I have great
news. There is an "Albert Lortzing-Gesellschaft" founded in Germany
by Irmlind Capelle, the editor of L's complete letters and the
catalogue of his complete works, Jürgen Lodemann writer of "Lortzing:
Gaukler und Musiker", the best book on Lortzing yet written, and
Ingolf Huhn, director of the Freiberg theatre.
Subscription is € 20 a year, which is not very much. I'm not sure
about the aims of the society, but I think (and hope) the board will
try to publish a complete (and critical) Lortzing editon.

Guten Tag! I am organizing a performance of Lortzing's
arrangement of Mozart's Overture to the Magic Flute for Men's
Choir to be performed at St. Luke's Church in Evanston , IL on
March 2, 2003 at 7 p.m. It is a benefit concert for the Bach Week
in evanston music festival. If you are in the chicago area you are
condially invited. Lots of other great stuf on this concert!
Hello, George!
Thank you very much for your answer!
My name is Kazumi from Japan.
Yes, "Die Opernprobe" has been performed in Tokyo(New National
Theatre Tokyo ) on Dec, 2000.
Now You can see pictures of this performance.
http://www.nntt.jac.go.jp/index3_f.html
But I could not see this opera, because I was not in Japan
at that time.
I want to go to Freiberg to see "Der Pole und sein Kind" very much!
But it's not so easy.
I will find and get the piano score of "Regina".
Thank you !
Kazu

To be honest: I don't believe that, although I know that "Die
Opernprobe" has been performed in Japan two years ago.
Please, tell us your real name!

This will be very difficult to obtain.
However, "Der Pole" will be performed 19, 20.Nov, 8.Dec.2002, 7 Jan
2003 in Freiberg,
http://www.mittelsaechsisches-theater.de/indexm.htm
I hope Regina will be performed soon!
http://www.omm.de/veranstaltungen/musiktheater/GE-regina.html
I don't know if there is a score of the original version of Regina;
but there are two piano scores printed in several arrangements. So it
is at least possible to see and play the music, although not in the
sequence as Lortzing originally composed it.
Best regards,
George Overmeire

While typing this e-mail my computer is downloading

I hope it will succeed, because there are always

However, thank you very much. Except for the overture,
I haven't any <BR>
music from "Der Pole". I noticed it was performed in
October last <BR>
