Welcome to allceilidh, an amalgamation of offtopic ceilidh and virtual ceilidh. This group follows the dictionary definition of ceilidh, being simply a gathering! If you have something to say about folk music and dance, do it here. Everyone is welcome to speak, so if it's remotely relevant to the folk scene, we look forward to hearing from you. What the moderators won't do is to end a thread forcefully, unless it is likely to cause offence. (And its never happened yet)... A final note, could new members drop a line to moderators when joining- membership will commence upon reciept. This is an anti spam measure.

I believe the Huntley case was part of the reasons behind it. That's what I meant about "best of intentions". However the new regulations will go much further

... My understanding is that this came about as a response to Ian Huntley being known to Lincs but moved to Cambs, and because of the Data Protection Acts,

If I understand correctly, it will include a CRB check but will also include information from other sources. "From October 12th 2009, a new duty to share
