"Soulful. Alive. Joyous. Grievous. Real, true, music is what I want to make,” says Allison Crowe.
In late 2003 Allison launched her own label, Rubenesque Records Ltd., with the release of Lisa’s Song + 6 Songs ~ a collection of songs recorded live-off-the-floor over the preceding couple of years. Secrets, the singer-songwriter's debut full-length album was named one of the "Top CDs of 2004" by Collected Sounds.
Tidings, a collection of songs for the season of joy and peace was Rubenesque's next, Winter, release. This is one of the best-reviewed holiday albums released in 2004/5+, and has received acclaim world-wide from critics who call Tidings "sublime", "marvelously thoughtful", "truly transcendent", "a triumph", and "the Yuletide find of the year."
In mid-2005, Allison released a double-album, Live at Wood Hall, bringing further popular and critical success. The year wrapped with a special, fan-club-only, DVD of Tidings performances. During 2005/6, Allison toured Canada from sea-to-sea, including the "Rock'n'Rail Revue" by train, visited U.S. cities for select shows, and crossed the mighty Atlantic twice for UK and continental European concert dates.
This Little Bird, ~ a 12-song collection - was recorded from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island, Canada and released in 2006 to much love.
This year, 2008, Little Light, is a new album of piano and guitar music from Allison Crowe.
