Allison's new album, "Live at Wood Hall", will be released in
another week to ten days (depending on where you live). Alley's
Canadian distributor, Festival, is publishing a full-page in its
July 2005 catalogue to announce the album's arrival
I have this in a PDF file, and don't think I can post the graphics
here, though they are quite lovely. When I can, later this week,
I'll post more about the album.
Off the top, is the text which accompanies the imagery on the
Festival release:
With the soul of Janis Joplin and the tenderness of fellow Canuck
Sarah McLachlan, Crowe rocks with her own unique brand of roots
charm. ~ Exclaim! (Canada)
Appealing to all generations, Allison Crowe's music can be heard
regularly on CBC Radio as well as on college, community and internet
stations. She's appeared on Vicki Gabereau and MTV, and in Macleans
magazine, The National Post, and The Globe and Mail. Her one-hour
television special, Tidings, is broadcast coast-to-coast annually
via CHUM's NewNetwork.
Building on the grassroots momentum of her critically and
commercially successful CDs, Secrets and Tidings, Crowe will soon be
performing across Canada and Europe in support of her newest
release, Live at Wood Hall.
This two-disc-set is an exciting journey through Allison Crowe's
concert repertoire. Alongside more than an album's worth of original
songs of love and hope to social and political commentary, the
acclaimed singer-songwriter covers her favourites - in a range from
roots/blues (A Murder of One, Me and Bobby McGee), through folk (Ani
DiFranco's Independence Day), pop/rock (John Lennon's Imagine and
Tori Amos' Playboy Mommy), jazz (In Love In Vain), and Broadway
(Bill, I Dreamed a Dream).
