thanks Sam - glad you're enjoying that track ( :
that's Alley performing at 6 a.m. - before most people in this country
have even opened their eyes!!
it's an exciting time - Allison has never been in better voice and
better spirits
and, so, the music is keeping me going
in sort of the same way that her recording of "Hallelujah" carried me
through deathly illness in late 2003, right now, operationally, it's
insane; there's soooo much going on, and, Rubenesque Records, as a Mom
& Pop organization is busting out all over
literally, I could spend all day, every day, 24-7, just responding to
emails being received; it's impossible to keep up - and there's now
three albums worth of songs, and songs that will be heard, waiting for
completion - which means there's sure to be some changes to our
previous plans for the Midnight Syren/Turtle Tracks and Alive &
Breathing albums... my expectation is that by the time Alley gets to
recording again, early in the New Year, she'll combine her album of
newest songs, with these two, to create a double-album, or two new
CDs...
of course, she may well have come up with a fourth album by then!!
one doesn't want to stem the flow, when the muse is so fertile; still,
as a label, and existing in the physical world of CD production,
distribution etc. etc. - it's a major challenge to keep up with the
music! it's a very good thing we have Ani DiFranco to look to as a
model!!
(Ani herself has pointed out there's a good reason few recording
artists follow her path to real independence - it's d**n hard work!!)
ok, well, that's a ramble - and, realistically, I may not have many
opportunities to chat at length again until Allison wraps her live
concert year on December 17 - so, I'll add, simply, that'06 is going
to see a tremendous amount of touring - more Canada, more Europe, and,
for sure, more U.S. dates - so, we shall aim to see you sooner than
later!
and, for a glimpse into where Alley is at these days, musically,
here's a pair of lo-fi,living room, recordings - of songs that are in
Alley's new batch:
Effortless ~ http://www.allisoncrowe.com/Effortlesssomebgs.mp3 ~
this one, to my ears, is beyond gorgeous, and, I'm finding myself
waking up with it in my head...
Skeletons and Spirits ~
http://www.allisoncrowe.com/skeletonsandspirits.mp3 ~ this jaunty
tune will almost surely reach its full rocking state on the next
album; live, it's already becoming a favourite with people
and, there's so much more!
I have to say, as Alley would - good times ( :
take care all,
Sláinte Mhath! (Gaelic for - to your health+)
