Rock 'n' Rail lifts singer's movin' mood

Allison Crowe has been rolling our way since the middle of May.
The B.C. singer and songwriter is crossing the country via Via Rail,
as part of her sea-to-sea Rock 'n' Rail Revue.
"It's been a lot of fun," Crowe says of her journey. Earlier this
month, she travelled straight from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island,
where she kicked off the tour that's now moving eastward back to the
Rock.
Along with being a way for Crowe to see the country and play some
shows, it's also something of a metaphorical pilgrimage for Crowe.
She is scheduled for an appearance on A-Channel tomorrow and a
concert at Aeolian Hall in London on Thursday at 8 p.m.
The 24-year-old is cementing her move from her hometown of Nanaimo,
B.C., to Corner Brook, Nfld., where she'll be moving in with her
boyfriend, whom she met while touring out there six months ago.
Once in her new home, Crowe says, she'll be looking forward to
throwing herself back into her songwriting career and continuing work
on a new album.
Crowe launched her own label, Rubenesque Records Ltd., with the 2003
release of Lisa's Song + 6 Songs -- a collection of songs recorded
live off the floor. Secrets, the singer/songwriter's debut full-
length album, (recorded by herself, at home), was released in 2004.
Musically, Crowe, her gorgeous vocals and pristine piano compositions,
draw inspiration from a wide variety of influences.
As for the meat of her music, Crowe says she finds inspiration in the
everyday experiences of her young life.
"I write as sort of a therapy and then it comes out that way," she
says. "I get to sing it, and that's even better."
Crowe is scheduled to reach Newfoundland in June. The tour, which
spans at least 6,000 kilometres, is supported by Via Rail.
