"MARCO POLO. A LIFE FOR A DREAM"
TALES
SIT/Arizona University Recordings and Publications
The visual music by Tales (JeanLuc Hervé Berthelot) takes us to a
fascinating and lengthy trip to China. The album has 8 themes:
each one is a new step toward this great country, where Marco Polo
stayed for 17 years. Polo is in fact the main force that guides us
in this medieval voyage. As always, the music is electronic,
sometimes cosmic, sometimes tribal and more rhythmic. It evokes
the far world on the eve of the 14th century with titles such as
"The Gates of Gobi", "Kubilai Khan’s Caravan" and "The Kingdom of
Qara-Khitai". The album is a subtle, creative approach to the "a
life for a dream" concept, and can be heard and enjoyed many times
over. It is perfect for relaxation, thanks to its serene ambient
textures. You won’t be disappointed.

TALES
Tales is the musical project by French musician JeanLuc Hervé
Berthelot, a keyboardist/synthesist and guitarist who practises an
atmospheric, ambient style. His influences include Vangelis, Klaus
Schulze, Eno, and several representatives of British rock.

MARCO POLO. A LIFE FOR A DREAM.
"SPEAK"
NO-MAN
Materiali Sonori
Speak was written and recorded between 1987-89 by Steven Wilson
and Tim Bowness. For this release, the 12 tracks have received new
vocals, but the instrumentation is taken from the original tapes
(except two themes which are completely new versions). Voices,
guitars, calm atmospheres, are the main traits, but you can also
find electronic and percussive sequences, and music that echoes
the work of people like Arvo Pärt, Henryk Górecki, J. Buckley,
Durruti Column and others. This debut on Materiali Sonori will be
followed by the release of a new album (Lighthouse).

"NUMBER OUR DAYS"
CHRIS SNIDOW
Chris Snidow
After "New Dawn", "Leprechaun Hill", "Crossing Over" and "From the
Foundation of the World", Chris Snidow presents his new album:
"Number of Days". It contains 9 themes, all composed by the author
except two (which anyway have been arranged by him). The music is
very melodic, sometimes rhythmic, sometimes near ambient. The main
inspiration for this work seems to be the Bible. The
instrumentation is rich and electronic, and there are multicolored
waves of sounds which suggest various types of environments,
always full of pleasant harmonies. The album is also a collection
of quiet atmospheres. Really great stuff for people who like
innovative and original electronic instrumental music.

"IN MY LIFE"
KEVIN KERN
Real Music
"In My Life" is the fourth release from Kevin Kern, a talented
pianist. The album is mainly a beautiful collection of piano
songs, all composed by Kern except two which are great
arrangements of classic Elton John and Lennon/McCarney themes. The
author uses a Yamaha acoustic grand piano but also a Kurzweil
K2500 synthesizer. Michael Wilcox (electric bass), Michael Spiro
(percussion), Thalia Moore (cello) and Jeremy Cohen (violin)
contribute to the work. The 11 themes are basically romantic and
sensual, musical poems that capture the almost lyrical inspiration
from the spirit.

"AFRICAN SMILE"
PETER MERGENER
Prudence
The third album that Mergener releases with Prudence is the result
of a fascinating trip to the African continent. Impressed by what
he has seen and heard, the author blends his already known and
much admired electronic sounds with the sonic feeling that comes
from Africa. So, the album (11 themes) contains the customary
synthetic atmospheres but also African rhythms, tribal chants and
other acoustic sounds. This is a departure from the type of music
of his latest album ("Noises in the Sky") but is a welcome new
creative side of this respected and renowned composer. Probably, a
heartfelt tribute to a sometimes forgotten continent.

"HARD PARTICLES"
DAVE FULTON
Eurock
Dave Fulton is a founding member of Dweller At the Threshold. This
is his first solo project, and covers pieces recorded from 1992-
1999. Dave loves old (specially analogic) and new synthesizers.
His music gets the best of them, providing incredible ambient and
space textures. This is electronic music with many reminiscences
from the 70s (Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze) but also from the
80s (Steve Roach). The melodies are dense and slow, and the 11
themes are interconnected by curious spatial effects. "Hard
Particles" shows us the great influence Dave has over DAT, but
also how many good thinks he can say in future solo works.

"ALTARA"
A. PRODUCE / M. GRIFFIN
Hypnos
M. Griffin and A. Produce have joined to produce an excellent
ambient album titled "Altara". This is their first collaboration,
one that needed over 18 months of hard work. Both artists are well
known in the electronic trance/ambient and ambient/minimalism
scenes, and their album combines the best from them. Curiously,
they have not meet face to face yet. The CD has then followed a
very special evolutionary path. The results are good: five tracks,
including the last one (over 36 minutes of slow-evolving melodies
and sound textures). People who like experimental ambient will
find this album very interesting.

"LES SECRETS DE LA NATURE"
TIM MAC BRIAN
Koonda Music
The music composed and performed by Tim Mac Brian is always a
sonic tribute to nature and open spaces. This time, of course, his
new album follows the same path, with flute and keyboards as the
main stars. Tim offers us his relaxing atmospheres, his visual
soundscapes and his great harmonies. He is also the artist behind
the beautiful photos that shine on the covers, taken during some
of his many trips around the world. The album contains 9 themes.
The music has classical elements and it’s completely instrumental.
A very delicate and relaxing work.
VICTOR ARENAS
TIM MAC BRIAN
As a composer and photographer, Tim has been travelling around the
world for the past twenty years, encountering mother's nature's
beauty and its legends. From there, he magically transposes his
inspiration into melodies awakening our passion for the natural
well-being.

PROGRAM@:
ASHES $15.55 or 13.13 euros or 2100 pesetas.
The legendary band Programa@ return with a wonderful production,
after a long period of silence. The music, eminently electronic,
makes deep incursions into Techno, Synth-Pop, Space Sequencer, and
New Instrumental Music. "Ashes" shows that electronic music has
not abandoned the strength that characterized it in the beginning.
AT-MOOSS:
MORPHING SYNTHESIZERS 1 $15.55 or 13.13 euros or 2100 pesetas.
MORPHING SYNTHESIZERS 2 $15.55 or 13.13 euros or 2100 pesetas.
MORPHING SYNTHESIZERS 3 $15.55 or 13.13 euros or 2100 pesetas.
The band At-Mooss is formed by Joseph Loibant, Anthony Seagarr,
John Lakveet and Dom F. Scab. Loibant is the most veteran musician
in the band. He began to research the sonic possibilities of
synthesizers in the 1970s. He was a member of the band Programa
together with Carlos Guirao (ex-member of Neuronium) and José M.
Ciria.
JOSEPH LOIBANT:
SINE $16.30 or 13.75 euros or 2200 pesetas.
In this solo album by Joseph Loibant, the founder of the band At-
Mooss, a variety of synthesizers is mixed in a very personal
manner. The style is agile, rhythmic, based on sequencers and
percussion, but with a modern approach. He succeeds in generating
the magic of the mythical cosmic trend of the seventies and at the
same time flow within the most avantgarde sectors of current
electronic Pop.
DOM F. SCAB:
INNERSEED $15.55 or 13.13 euros or 2100 pesetas.
Synthesist Dom F. Scab is a member of the band At-Mooss. He began
a solo career as a composer in 1998. His music has gotten airplay
on such famous radio programs like Echoes (in the USA).Scab has
composed some soundtracks. He has collaborated with several
musicians, among them Albert Giménez (ex-member of Neuronium).
PLASTHA´S MOUNTAGE:
PROTOPLASTHA´S $15.55 or 13.13 euros or 2100 pesetas.
Joss & Loop , Ben Howard Jr. , and Panik have created in this CD
the beginnings of a series that explores with great imagination
and power the border areas among Trance, Techno and electronic
Dance. Unusual strength and dynamics, a dense rhythm, latest
generation synthesizers used in a creative, innovative way, they
all contribute to each theme in this compact disk new
expectations that hold the interest from the beginning to the end.
MC2:
ENERGY $15.55 or 13.13 euros or 2100 pesetas.
A magnificient release by the band MC2 of a Space Sequencer style,
with powerful rhythms and dense atmospheres. Very elaborated.
ALBERT GIMENEZ & DOM F. SCAB:
COSMIC NI $15.55 or 13.13 euros or 2100 pesetas.
Amazing Psychedelic Music.
SERGIO KOVAL:
CLON $15.55 or 13.13 euros or 2100 pesetas.
A skilled composer of television soundtracks, Sergio Koval, is
able to use the synthesizers in an unusually intense, vital, epic,
majestic way, like Vangelis, and a few other stars of electronic
music do. Koval's music will enthusiasm the lovers of Symphonic
Space Music.
LUIS ALBERTO NARANJO:
HUMAN FEELINGS (CDR) $12.96 or 10.93 euros or 1750 pesetas.
BLUE LIFE (CDR) $12.96 or 10.93 euros or 1750 pesetas.
The music by Luis Alberto Naranjo, near to the New Instrumental
Music, Space and Synth-Pop, have a pleasant freshness, thanks to
the melodies and atmospheres. The music is very emotional, with
romantic and also solemn traits, yet without falling into an
excessive sweetness. The artist relies mostly in the melody so as
to transmit the emotions of his music .
ALBERT GIMENEZ:
MOSDUM $15.55 or 13.13 euros or 2100 pesetas.
ZIV $15.55 or 13.13 euros or 2100 pesetas.
The composer and guitarist Albert Giménez began his musical career
in the '70s. He was a member of the bands Suck Electronic,
Macromassa and Neuronium. In 1979 he turned from electric to
classical guitar, releasing during the following years different
records with his own compositions for soloist acoustic guitar, and
playing in numerous concert tours. In 1995 he returned to electric
guitar so as to continue his research in the new electronic
frontiers that this instrument has to offer.
