The most brutal clash among different styles, techniques and even
ideologies about how to make music can give rise to nefarious
accidents or inspired wonders. The latter is what happened with
the release of this album. "Ereia", composed by Nick Didkovsky,
the leader of the band of avantgarde Rock Doctor Nerve, is a work
partly created with traditional means, and partly computer-
generated, which includes arcane orchestral performances together
with wild explosions of Rock, carefully prepared solos together
with inspired, spontaneous improvisations. The artistic result of
such a chaotic structure is a brilliant show of imagination.

of sound by Koji Asano. Fleeing from conventionalisms, he enters
the regions of the generation and manipulation of sound, rather
than the creation of musical structures as such. In the same
manner as abstract paintings are difficult to define, the
electronic sounds of a high frequency we perceive as sculptured in
this CD escape the labels and enter the abyssal depths of the
oceans of experimentation. As if we were before an ecosystem of
artificial insects, we witness a disquieting and doubtless weird
performance.

Electroacoustic composer Koji Asano introduces us in this album
into another of his interesting experiments. In his quest to
explore new dimensions of sound, in this occassion he has created
a series of more or less meditative piano pieces, flowing along
Classical Music, Minimalism and Jazz, whose most original trait is
its sound texture, determined by its recording on a microcassette.
The ever present sound typical of the CD is thus replaced by this
other one, which allows the listener to hear the music from a more
limited perspective, as if it were a black and white photograph
as compared to a color version of the same.

By using two microphones sited within two loudspeakers, and
working with air pressure and repeated amplification of sound,
specially of the grave pitches, Koji Asano has created a peculiar,
surprising work of experimentation with sound. Skilfully directing
the electroacoustic phenomena that such a paraphernalia prepared
by the artist develops, he succeeds in creating three pieces that,
although possessing a similar structure, explore different fields.
The first one is clearly dominated by rhythm, in the shape of
pulsating noises. The second could be described as a long symphony
where rhythmic noises are combined with others that evoke abstract
melodies. The third one presents the aspect of an instrumental
solo with ephemeral noises alternating with silences.

Music from the Future is the suggestive name with which synthesist
Marcel Peelen composes electronic music. He has gathered part of
his compositions in a new release, "Random Noise Generation".
To create his music, he has utilized four digital synthesizers,
one analogic , two hybrids and a Theremin (the unique electronic
instrument invented in the twenties by Lev Termen, whose
performance is done without a physical contact with the
instrument, by moving the hands before it) The style of this CD,
openly experimental and avantgarde, combines the most risky
aspects of Industrial Music with Ambient.

The fourteen compositions that constitute this CD are treks
towards the darkest areas of Ambient, minimalism and electronic
experimentation. Like sinister landscapes, each piece is made with
a different palette of sound colors. Some of these palettes remind
us or suggest recognizable sounds, such as that of the bells of a
huge cathedral, or that of metal in its multiple manifestations.
Some themes have remisniscences of the sounds of string
instruments behaving like the buzzing of terrible insects, and
others, most of them, happen to be difficult to describe with
words.

"DES GERMES DE QUELQUE CHOSE"

Hellish machines, the buzzing of killer insects and ominous
landscapes are the elements that are evoked in the imagination of
the audience when listening to this album. Created by means of
treatments of electronic experimentation, the general style of
this work, could be placed on the border between the most abstract
side of Ambient and the most industrial trends of the manipulation
of noises.

crepuscular metallic textures and disquieting whispers compose a
picture of eerie colors that seem to suggest the image of the
world after the Apocalypse, specially in the themes "Tributorium"

In this album, Larry Kucharz progresses in his quest for musical

Techno to Trance, yet at the same time maintaining the structure
typical of Minimalism. To this rhythmic structure, several
different electronic atmospheres within the Ambient wave are
likewise added.

A really interesting meeting that of these two creators of
universes of sound. The American Phillip B. Klinger, better known
by his artistic name PBK, started an interesting career in the
musical avantgarde of the late eighties. His music, between
Ambient and Minimalism, soon attracted a remarkable attention
given the eminently sinister character that PBK achieved without
resorting to typically bleak sound effects. That extraordinary and
so unusual skills are joined in this album with the talent that
Russian composer Artemiy Artemiev has to create complex, dark
atmospheres of sound. Explorers of fathomless musical abysses,
both artists offer us a work of electronic music of a deeply
experimental nature, with passages which could be labelled within
Ambient and others nearer to the structures of Concrete Music.

In this album we can enjoy the brilliant result of the
collaboration between two magnificient synthesists. Born
avantgarde synthesists, both have always ignored commercial fads
to create their albums. With a dominance of the traits usually
found in Space Music, this work also gathers elements typical of
the most abstract side of Ambient. "Space Icon" is an impressive
theme, of a clear Space nature and a powerful rhythm, where the
electric guitar has a strong presence, both with regard to melody
and rhythmic structure."MIR" is a suggestive piece of a likewise
Space tendency, yet it is more relaxed, with melancholy touches.
"Channeling" and "Zen Garden" are very original themes, with
melodies and rhythms that evoke imaginary folklores. "Cosmic
Jungle" approaches Space Ambient with certain ethnic touches in
the percussion.

field of electronic music, Ambient, New Instrumental,
Experimental, World Music, and so on. The inserts are free. The

more than 600 words with the data they consider as being of
interest (contact addresses - snail mail, telephone number, fax,
email, URL... -) and an explanatory text on their activities in

We are also preparing an encyclopaedia of composers of electronic
music. The artists wishing to be included can send us a biography
(with a list of works and contact address if they wish to) of no
more than 900 words, in English, to amazings@.... Inserts
are free.

The persons or firms having a page in internet related in some way
to the alternative musics can communicate the URL, as well as a
brief description of its contents, to webmaster@..., and
we will set a link from our web to theirs (The insert of a link in
our web is free whenever it is corresponded with a similar link
from their web to our web)
