Dear Cathy,
We use the Yamaha 300 series "Rottenburgh" recorders. They have good sound
and response through two octaves and play in tune. I like to use Courtly
Music as a retailer because they have the best prices I can find, are very
friendly and helpful and know Waldorf schools. http://www.courtlymusic.com
<http://www.courtlymusic.com/> If you call them they are really good about
giving advice. Here's where they list pricing for schools:
http://www.courtlymusic.com/SchoolRecorders.html You may have done so
already, but you should check their prices as they're a lot lower than most
retailers. I also use the Yamaha recorders because Courtly Music doesn't
sell the Aulos bass! The Yamaha bass can be handled by a skillful 5th
grader, but that's a bit of a stretch.
Have fun!
Jason

Subject: [anawme] bass recorders
Hi again,
I'm getting ready to order our first bass recorder for our school and
wondering what preference people have between Yamaha and Aulos. Is
there sound very different and is one easier for students to play? I
imagine I will want the "Knick" style? Aulos is a little less money.
Thanks for all suggestions. Cathy
