Hello! I would have liked to be with you at the conference! At our
summer session for Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training, we
have Christiaan Boele for 20 minutes of all school singing and 1 hour
of Werbeck exercises everyday for 2nd year students (my class). It
has been wonderful to hear our group voice develop and to hear
individuals "uncover" their voices. One colleague from my school
(Marin Waldorf) has not been able to match pitch (for years!) and is
now singing in tune consistently with a nice tone!
Here's a bit of news: about 15 singers in Northern California have
formed a Werbeck choir. We rehearse once a month on our own. Twice a
year, when Christiaan is here, we work intensively with him for a
weekend. After 2 (or maybe 3!) years, we presented a performance in
San Rafael at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
The 90 day trial idea sounds great!
Does anyone use Silver Burdett books (old or new)? Will Schmid (who
wrote a very good book World Music Drumming) is co-author of the 2005
series for grade 6,7 and 8. This makes me wonder if this edition
would be useful. The website doesn't show much but emphasizes lots of
digital enhancements. Does anyone know if the songs and activities in
this edition are particularly interesting?
Thanks, Carol
