Hello Music Teacher Colleagues,
I have just posted a little group of tunes we use for Maypole dancing. As you
have probably noticed, I have posted quite a few pieces for the different grades
and orchestra. It would be great to have a bit of conversation about what we
are seeking from our ANAWME site. Names of resources and postings of pieces are
really useful to some of us. I have been hoping for some feedback on my
postings so I'll know if anyone has found them helpful. And I hope you will post
pieces. Just go to a folder, browse to find the file you want to post (Finale,
pdf, Sibelius, Word or whatever), load it and add comments. If you check the
box we get an email telling us that you have posted.
Please comment on what you would like to see posted or the conversations you
would like to have in this online format. For example, another teacher and I
have had some very lively correspondence (privately, not on the ANAWME site, but
she wouldn't mind if we posted it now, after the fact) about orchestra,
improvisation, exercises and repertoire ideas. We "met" on the site but moved
our discussion to our private emails. It has been great for both of us!
Also, I gave some info on the Manfred Bleffert Music Course in Santa Rosa in
late July and August. It may be impossible to really get the flavor of the
course through a few paragraphs but it would be good to know if people like
hearing about this kind of event. By the way, please check the Manfred Bleffert
website if you are interested in this summer as Instrument Building is filling
up and Improvisation and Pedagogy still need enrollment to go forward. I can
say that this course has been immensely inspiring to me as someone who has been
a professional orchestra musician for 25 years and a Waldorf Music Teacher for 5
years.
The Singing Human Being Conference is being planned for the Summer of 2010 in
Finland. I went in 2005 with someone I met at the Sunbridge Music Conference.
It was well worth the effort to be there. From that experience, I enrolled in
the School for Uncovering the Voice training (with Christiaan Boele) and became
a founding member of the Werbeck Choir of California (which may travel to
Finland in 2010.)
So, for me, the connections I have made through the Music Conference and ANAWME
have been personally and professionally rewarding. I would like to see us use
this technology as best we can to connect with each other and work together over
the miles and over the years.
Thanks for your work and your time.
Yours,
Carol, Music Director, Marin Waldorf School
