Even years ago, when AIC was still an entity, the fan club was pretty iffy.
Sometimes you sent them money, and they sent you stuff - other times, people
sent in money and never heard from them. I'd be careful in using that info
- you can always find some kind of memorabilia on e-Bay, and Jerry's website
has some AIC stuff, too, I believe.

Thanks! Nice to see you still here too.

I actually lost my email account and lost track of the group for a while
until i got motivated to change all my accounts over to the new one. As
such, I probably missed about 6 months worth of stuff. I hope I didn't
lose anything THAT major...

I understand that styles change, and so does everything else. But the point
is that the original purpose of MTV was to play music videos, and as soon as
Real World and Road Rules came out, everything went downhill. Of course the
CEOs of MTV and VH1 are making millions, and it makes me sick, because I would
rather see more of the MUSIC videos that are coming out, and not b.s. reality tv
shows with 20-something morons. But, I guess that's the way things are.
Television sucks.
And speaking of dressing in comfortable clothes, a comical "fashion" that
fortunately didn't last long was dressing in pajamas and slippers. High
schoolers would come to school dressed like they were ready to go to sleep.
Well, what I don't see much anymore are people wearing band t-shirts. You will
sometimes see "Rolling Stones", "311", and "Bob Marley", but I never really see
people wearing rock shirts to support their favorite bands. But again, it is
2005, and styles change, and we would all rather be supporting our favorite
clothing stores instead, aka Abercrombie and Fitch.
It is bad to be stuck in the past, but there are some styles that are timeless.
However, I think the fashions of today are kind of boring. Well, at least where
I live.
If enough people could get together and pressure MTV to start playing real music
(and not 50 cent or J.Lo, along with Paris Hilton) then maybe we could finally
get somewhere.
And I will check out some of the new underground bands.

-ps. 90s style was still much better than 80s fashion.

I perfectly agree with this last mail, even if i guess that we share different
point of view.
As long as i remember here grunge music listeners have always been in
minority(excepet but Nirvana's fans).
We've survived, and we will as well.
On my top5 favourite bands five are Grunge ,but I accept the truth, wich is that
times has changed.
There are thousands of new good bands, and old non-grunge ones.
Listen and support those, because life goes on, and so does music.
About MTV: i agree with Sly, they give people what they want.
Ok, they have some influence on people. Here we can see some people that listen
to rap music. Although most don't understand a word of the lyrics; but
fortunately most of the guys don't care about all that rap and R&B stuff that
MTV broadcast 24-7.
About fashion-clothing. Don't care if people spend they're money in dressing
like people that is "cool".
You can be friend with every kind of person, that dress in anyway. Of course you
won't agree with his point, but it doesn't matter as long as they're nice and
loyal with you........

P.S. Finally you can't complain about live concerts because you have Pearl Jam
in tour each year, seeing them here is an event; and you have Jerry plaiyng as
well!
THe last wors are just a joke

Technically Generation X *IS* were baby boomers, then coined for the
kids of the 80s. The early 90s were/are generation Y. I don't know what
generation we have now, but if it was based on music, they're probably
at generation Z+1, give or take.

wow... that is an interesting commentary. i might be the youngest member in the
group, and i understand the views of today's society. i agree, most definitely.
you don't have to be a gen-Xer to know the difference, although my knowledge is
partly second-hand. i'm glad i read that. i'm also the most 90's-esque dresser
at my school, but that doesn't say much.
i'm writing a story about a kid who would have fit right in with the disaffected
grunge-kids, only it takes place about three years ago in Louisville. if
anyone's interested in reading it, i'd be happy to send! (sorry, off-topic)
i know Hot Topic(if you know that store) used to sell much cooler stuff, instead
of all this Napolean Dynamite merchandise and a load of emo clothes. i got
cheetah-print Converse there (remember Layne wore them in the beginning segment
in Music Bank? i loved them so i looked around).
there are always going to be "posers" and preps. as long as the individual
doesn't lose sight, there will always be good music.

Hello. It's 2005. Rap, gospel, and country music dominate the Billboard music
charts. Our society is vastly different from the way it was 10-15 years ago. We
are much more conservative. Grunge is long gone, and the only rock that does
appear on the airwaves is flooded with pop influences. Even the city of
Seattle, the "birthplace" of grunge, seems to have become "Frasierized," that
is, more button-downed, affluent, and less of what is was 15 years ago. Once
again, I know it is 2005, but now that all of the original people who were a
part of this movement are all grown up and raising families, have they
themselves transformed into the faceless society that we have today?
I know that we all have full-time careers or jobs, but is there still a spark of

Well, that's my two cents. What do you guys think?

Hey guys, it's been a while.

Sorry for not being around to post and moderate etc, I got caught up

I thought i'd just say hi, and just acknowledge that I'm sure everyone
here feels awful for what's happened with Hurricane Katrina in the
last week. Hopefully the situation will improve soon.

Anyone here know anyone who was there or has been displaced by Katrina?

Hey guys, it's been a while.

Sorry for not being around to post and moderate etc, I got caught up
losing the internet for a while and so on.

I thought i'd just say hi, and just acknowledge that I'm sure everyone
here feels awful for what's happened with Hurricane Katrina in the
last week. Hopefully the situation will improve soon.

Anyone here know anyone who was there or has been displaced by Katrina?

it could still be a great experience for those of us who still rue never

Agreed...I have been on this list since 1997 and have maybe made 10 total
posts, but I am still on because of all of our mutual love and respect for what
the music was, and more importantly, what it still means to all of us. I know
no one on this list, but out of mutual respect of the dead, their family,
and accidental email, I click "delete."

I do agree, but it was just an innocent mistake. I've done it
myself before. I've known angel undercover and Jason over the years
and I know they respect Layne and his family. I am sure she feels
bad about what happened. Regardless, the message is gone, deleted,
so let it die. *NOTE* Please do not reply with Angel's original
message attached to it or I'll have to delete it.

Again, I think for those that have been here on the Angry chair (its
only 510 people not 5000) this long, even after Layne's death, you
either loved Layne and are thankful for all he has given you, or
you're just basically a spammer. Sassy gave me group privledges to
approve new members so as to avoid getting spammed all the time. I
considered Layne to be like an older brother and have never fathomed
the idea of invading his privacy, nor anyone close to him for that
matter. Layne gifted the world with his soul on a personal level
that most are not gifted enough to do and I am sure he is protecting
his mother. Nothing strange about that at all.

Okay Group...and thanks for the responses about the ANGEL UNDERCOVER e-mail.
Basically, I understand that people make mistakes and may not be aware of the
fact that the e-mail sent through yahoo groups or any kind of GROUP chain is
viewed by all. However, still, the material discussed was very, very, and I
mean VERY personal. Even if LAYNE were not a well known singer of a band, what
difference does it really make? His family, and especially his mother has a
right to keep information such as his burial arrangements very private. I do
not discuss with people the final arrangements made of my next of kin, or
someone very close to me. I just think it is morbid for someone who more than
likely, as it appears did not even know LAYNE to even discuss such things.
Leave it alone. I love listening to his music, and appreciating the great
things he contributed to the rock world. I cannot stand gossip, and rarely even
respond to anything in this group, except for reasons of asking
questions about events regarding anything where AIC is concerned. I have no
interest whatsoever on if/when/how Layne was cremated or buried. That is NONE
of my business, and NONE of anyone else's business other than his parents, close
relatives, and friends who actually KNEW him personally. I defend Layne and
anyone who has passed on. They deserve RESPECT. That is pretty much all I was

I'm curious to hear how it will sound in acoustic style, and if he'll be in a

Please let me know as soon as possible if the concert will be taped!

Hey Laura,
Sorry It has taken so long to answer...I don't have a computer where I live
so I'm at my mother's house. I don't know where Layne is buried, but from
