My recent introduction to the works of Bruckner, hit me quite literally
like a thunderclap. (A thunderclap on the Ringstrasse, so to speak!) Yes,
through Symphony No.3, and I couldn't believe what I was listening to. Not even
Mahler prepared me for this! Yes, Wagnerian, but utterly original--a whole new
departure! Could this be possible? Could I, a man in my 40s, become a
Bruckner-head? Yes, I'm now a "Bruckner-head" --newly minted! Any other
Bruckner-philes in Florida, let me know your thoughts.
