My media: Cynthia Lennon

Guardian

Monday May 31, 1999

Newspapers:
The Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, occasionally the Times, Telegraph
and Guardian. There are certain newspapers I choose not to buy,
probably because of certain articles that have been not very fair.
But now I live in Normandy it's very hard to get English papers.

Magazines:
I love Hello! and OK!. I used to buy Woman and Woman's Own many,
many years ago. I'm very good at buying a magazine that has a free
offer on the front, because if you come from the north you always
want a bargain.

Books:
It's quite a while again since I've read a book. When I moved to
France I read A Year In Provence, A Normandy Tapestry and Khalil
Gibran. On holiday, I read writers like Joan Collins - naughty and
nothing too serious or intellectual. It's an eclectic collection,
with a lot of books I read as a child - The Famous Five, Just
William, the Bible and Winnie The Pooh. But I do have a collection
of beautiful art books.

Film:
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers - I saw it five times, but then I
was only 15 or 16; Limelight with Charlie Chaplin; Cabaret; The
Sting; The Money Pit.

Television:
I've watched Coronation Street since it began. I love Brookside,
because it takes me back to Liverpool every weekend. Good English
drama - BBC and ITV: when they do a good drama it's the best. Not
American films - no thank you. Even though they are less violent
now, and Hollywood is going back to how it was in the old days - I
think, I hope.

Radio:
In Normandy I get 5 Live, Radio 4 and Radio 2. I love good music and
anything that is melodious and not raucous.

Ads:
Humorous commercials I enjoy. Some of the car commercials I don't
understand any more - too obscure for me.

Multimedia:
No, no, no. I just paint. In fact I prefer the longhand written word
in life.
