I don't hate Yoko, although most of her art work
and definitely her voice is the worst of the era.
What I dislike about her is that she comes from a
very, very rich, privileged background. That's fine.
But coming across like the people's representative,
give me a break!
You can be sure when John first met her, her family
money got his attention. In the sixties, there were
acts that had been on top only a few years before, that
were then bankrupt. A big music career did not guarantee
future riches in those days, even with songwriting royalties.
Elvis had to do Vegas and he had made the most money of any.
In several interviews that Paul has done over the past few
years, he has mentioned that he and John were very much
into making money, thsi the reason for branching into films
and film scores. Don't forget also, Linda was rumored to be
an Eastman Kodak heiress, a rumor that she never denied in
a public statement until after snaring Paul.
The Beatles needed money to protect themselves and
their families, once they became big enough to fear such
threats, remember. And they'd grown up poor. Now they had
tasted the other side.
I'm not saying John wasn't in love with Yoko, or that
Paul didn't fall in love with Linda. But the first
motivations?
Cyn was so obviously someone John cared for, in spite of
being so very different from him in certain ways. She
did understand the artistic side of things. As Yoko
did, by merit of her education (top schools).
The class Cyn always showed is what impresses me most.
Getting down off of my soapbox,
Alicia (Ali)
Have a great week all!
