This is a copy of the Thank-you email sent to Mayor Gordon for
helping us to obtain a parking variance for the entire street!!
the parking hours may have to be 8pm to 3am.. but we will be working
out the details this next week and the permanent signs etc go in
after that!
Keep in mind that cars left on Grand after 3 am will be towed to make
sure Grand is clear for rush hour traffic in the morning, so there
will be no mercy!
But, if you do have car problems or something like that.. it's smart
to call the police dept and they can give you the extended time you
need to handle problems like that!
This is victory for all our musicians and performance artists that
perform on Grand Avenue as well.. a lack of parking , esp for venues
like ours has been a major hindrence in being able to get patrons to
attend!
Woo hoo!
the email follows:
Dear Mayor Phil Gordon!
On behalf of D-PAC and all the members of the art community, we
extend a heartfelt thanks for your efforts to bring both the arts and
the city into a closer understanding and a renewed trust!
I spoke to Jim at the Transportation Dept. and he will be delivering
parking signs to Grand Avenue before tonight's, First Friday Art
show! The speed at which you were able to accomplish this is amazing!
We are all so excited and grateful that you went out of your way to
provide us with such an important component to any successful
business, but even more so for the arts and culture of our downtown
communities!
In the past it was asked, "What does the City of Phoenix need" My
answer was, 'Personality'.
We hope to make the community around us and all the members of our
city proud of the work we are doing to bring life, culture, arts and
personality back to this ever rising Phoenix!
Thanks a Million!
And I mean that literally!
