AND WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?????!!!!!!!

Greetings to our great land.
Much to tell and only a short space so I'll do the best I can. The band and
I have
wrapped up taping for Blue Collar TV, and so we can get back to work on what we
do best.
                    F#@*-ING ROCK!

The new record ( still being written and recorded ) is slated for the
beginning of 2006,
which really doesn't give us much time if you know how this suff works. And if
you don't
know how this stuff works, all the better for you.

The tour on the City of New Orleans is looking like it'll be in early May,
and our short
film on the Crescent Tour will be done by then as well, I would think.

Meanwhile, we're looking forward to some dates and playing a whole show
with ENTIRE
songs!!!!! WHAT A CONCEPT!

**** THIIS FRIDAY MARCH 11th MERCY LOUNGE
NASHVILLE,TN****

There are more dates for the spring, of course, so keep in touch. The Website
is being
rennovated right now and I'm told should be back operating in a week or so.

Don't yens forget about us...

Hope all is well with you and yours

Are the holidays driving you crazy? How about a good ol' rock n' roll
show to relieve the stress? An evening so good it'll let the rest of
the world know that although you support the season---there's no need
for Santa to be showing up around HOLLOWEEN (!?) Yeah, that's what it
is...a PROTEST!

Mic Harrison and his band will be with the Commonwealth and I in
these cities this week, so spread the word or come yourself:

Thur. Dec. 2nd Uncle Pleasant's Louisville,KY
Fri. Dec. 3rd Schuba's Chicago, IL
Sat. Dec. 4th Southgate House Newport, KY

And when you REALLY have had enough, join Mic and I New Year's Eve in
Knoxville at the Downtown Holiday Inn Convention Center--rooms still
avaible as well as cheaper individual tickets: 865 522 2800

That is all,
Carry on.

Hello all,
A couple of solo shows before the band and I head for Blue
Collar TV World for a bit:

Wed. Sept. 29 Joseph-Beth Bookstore Lexington, KY
( Silas House releases his new book "The Coal Tattoo" and I'll play a
couple of songs. Silas' readings, as well as his books , are great)

Sat. Oct. 2 3rd & Lindsley Nashville,TN
( a co-headline with Willy Porter, my set at 10:30 AFTER the TN v.
Auburn game...of course)

The rest of October is filled with television tapings for Blue
Collar TV, Jeff Foxworthy's comedy show. We are the "house band",
which is really easy work with really *posh* living. Television is
such a hurry-up-and-wait-thing, that I'm hoping to finish writing the
next record while we're in Athens, GA for the month.
Wish me luck.
Or not.

Have a great fall and the band and I will be back on the road in
November!!!

Take care,
Scott Miller

"Once I thought I saw you in a crowded, hazy bar..."

Well, Hurrican Ivan came through and cancelled our Fall Down on
the Square show in Knoxville yesteray. I was tempted to just take my
guitar down and play, but know what? It was quite a storm. Hope
everyone survived with as little damage as possible.
The shows for Bristol, TN/VA and Greeville,SC are still on and
INDOORS. So don't be scairt.
Two solo shows next week, at Skunkfest in South Carolina and
Work/Play Theatre in B'ham, AL: Friday and Saturday respectively.
Then the band and I head off for more Blue Collar TV and show
business livin'. 'Tis rough, 'tis rough.

      Take care, everyone

Well, I guess the cat is out of the bag. The genie is out of the
bottle. The toothpaste is out of the tube. The gate's been left
open. The door is off the hinges. The lips are loose. The town
crier has yelled. The bell has rung. The perimeter has been
breached...
This spy has come in from the cold. I have been in the `show
business', and what a world it is.

The band and I spent three weeks in June taping for "Blue Collar TV",
which is Jeff Foxworthy's sketch comedy show that debuts this
Thursday, July 29th, on the WB network. We entertained the crowd and
played in and out of commercials. All that was required of us was 30
seconds of rock, four to five times a night--every other day. Nice
work if you can get it. And I think I'd do it again if given the
chance. We didn't have to tear down every night and travel the next
day. The hotel was nice and within walking distance. The food was
free but so was the advice:

"Smile with your EYES—you can practice that!"

But Jeff Foxworthy is an EXTREMELY nice and gracious guy, and he
chose wisely the people who worked with him, from cast to crew. So I
hope the show does what they want.
As for the band and I, we have no idea how much of us they will use.
Your guess is as good as mine as to how many people who will hear:

"Ladies and Gentlemen, Scott Miller and the Commonwealth!!"

will bother to seek us out, or (even better) BUY A GODDAMN RECORD!
So we'll see.
Meanwhile, we're back on the road and I am starting to write for the
next record. I hope we can do a "City of New Orleans" train tour
before too long and keep on rockin'. Okay? Is anybody still with me?

We've had a couple weeks to recuperate from the Mule Train MMIV tour
and are headed back out, this time in the van to:

Tue. March 2nd Little Brother's Columbus,OH
Wed. March 3rd Beachland Ball Room Cleveland,OH
Thu. March 4th Club Cafe Pittsburgh,PA
Fri. March 5th Southgate House Newport,KY

Please pass the word and come out. Enough said.

The tour on the Amtrak Crescent was one for the books, and Jack
Neely, one of Knoxville's finest writers and residents, has almost
written a book on the leg of the tour he "embedded". Here's a link
to his story:
http://metropulse.com/dir_zine/dir_2004/1409/t_cover.html

If that doesn't work, just go to

MetroPulse.com

I wish I could have travelled and written like he did. Hell, I wish I
could WRITE like he does. Thanks, Jack.
We did document most of it, through recordings and video, and hope to
get that put together in the near future. No, I don't "hope", I WILL
put it together in the near future, so there.

Thanks to all who helped us pull that tour off: Amtrak ( Jerome,
Caroline, Hank) Sugar Hill ( Bev, Holly, Molly, EVERYBODY), The
Department of Transportation ( Jeff, Darrell) plus, Don Walker, Bill
Schroeher, Marissa , Clint in Hattiesburg, awww...you people know who
you are.
I definitely think the City of New Orleans Train( N.O. to Chicago)
will be on the agenda soon.

Okay, now, back to work and here's hoping the first robin of spring
doesn't build a nest in your dryer vent..

see you on the road

It really doesn't matter what I say here because by the new year,
you'll forget it all.
Really.
I'm living in your basement.

See?

I've been away working on the new record. It's too soon to tell what
it's like at this point, but it could be good. It could also be not
good. There is still a ways to go.

I'll be playing New Year's Eve in Knoxville at the Tennessee Theatre
under the auspice of "Hank's Last Night". (NYE will be the 50th
anniversary of Hank William's death or last night on earth in
Knoxville, depending on which theory you ascribe to. I myself think
he was taken back by the aliens that left him here in the first
place.)

January will bring a host of solo dates and a build up to a record
release in the spring.

NOW, have a great holiday and get your basement cleaned—I live in
fear of all this mold you got down here..

Take care,
Scott Miller

As I'm winding down and staying home to write (well, I've really been
working on my club-house in the back yard) I forgot to post the last
Scott Miller & The Commonwealth dates for the summer:

Friday June 19th Off Broadway St. Louis, MO
Saturday June 20th Sheffield Garden Walk Chicago,IL

When I see you again I will have re-invented myself like Madonna...

pass the word if you can and have a good summer.

the scott miller

amen
