You can protect this email group from the recent spams we've been getting by
changing the membership settings to where you have to approve anyone applying
for new membership. I'm the moderator of another Yahoo group, and we had the
same problem. It's really not been much trouble -- you just get notified when
someone wants to join the group. You can usually tell based on their email
address if it's a "real" person or some bogus spammer.
