The Alec Wilder Group is an internet forum for discussions of the life and work of American composer, Alec Wilder (1907-1980).
The music of Alec Wilder combined elements of the jazz, popular, and classical realms. His compositions number in the several hundreds, covering every medium from chamber to orchestral music, to opera, musical theater, and popular song. He has a small but intensely devoted following, known collectively as the Friends of Alec Wilder, dedicated to perpetuating the memory and life's work of this uncommon American composer, and to presenting annual Wilder concerts and other events. The Alec Wilder Group (awilder) can be viewed as an electronic extension of these activities.
