Hello Poets-

I mentioned this at January's slam, but I wanted to send you some
more details today. We've enjoyed five slams at The Paper Heart, with
each one providing a great experience for the people that have
attended, as well as for the poets that have competed. I have
received a ton of feedback from participants, and audience members on
ways to improve the slam and the experience. I took a list and
whittled it down to some changes for February's slam.

Here are the changes in store for February-

Signups-

Sign ups for the slam will no longer be by reservation. we will
open registration when we start taking entry fees (usually about
7:30pm) on the night of the show. The first 10 poets may sign up for
spots and compete without an entry fee or cover charge. If there is
no feature, then poet 11-15 may sign up with a $5 entry fee. If there
is a feature, then we will only be accepting the 10 poets.

Prize money-

We have decided to break the prize money down into 1st, 2nd and
3rd, in order or "spread the wealth" as it were. First place will be
$50, Second $30 and Third $20.

Merch Sales-

As always, competing poets and features may sell their merch at
the Anthology merch table with no commission or fees.

Time-

Nobody really uses the extra 1/2 minute, so we will be going to
the "Standard" 3 minute time limit, 10 second grace period.

Cuts-

With 10 poets, we will have regular cuts to 8 for the second
round and 6 for the third round. With more than 10 poets, cuts will
be to 7 for the second round, and top 4 and any poet withing one half
a point of the 4th poets score reading in the third round (which
realistically could be all seven).

Scores-

Reminder, scores are not cumulative for the slam, unless the host
specifies otherwise.

When and Where-

February 22nd, at the Paper Heart, 8pm

If you have any Q's, please send me an email, I look forward to
seeing everyone on the 22nd!

Also-

The Greater Phoenix Poetry Slam will be selecting a team to
attend Arcosanti- The AZ State Championship Slam, and it will be the
top 4 poets in the May 24th Slam. For more information on Arcosanti,
email me.

Bob
