February Phoenix Slam Format changes
-------------------------------------------------------
Based on your feedback, there a few changes for the Feb Slam, and
here they are...
Signups-
Sign ups for the slam will no longer be by reservation. we will
open registration when we start taking entry fees (usually about
7:30pm) on the night of the show. The first 10 poets may sign up for
spots and compete without an entry fee or cover charge. If there is
no feature, then poet 11-15 may sign up with a $5 entry fee. If there
is a feature, then we will only be accepting the 10 poets.
Prize money-
We have decided to break the prize money down into 1st, 2nd and
3rd. First place will be $50, Second $30 and Third $20.
Merch Sales-
As always, competing poets and features may sell their merch at
the Anthology merch table with no commission or fees.
Time-
We will be going to the "Standard" 3 minute time limit, 10 second
grace period.
Cuts-
With 10 poets, we will have regular cuts to 8 for the second
round and 6 for the third round. With more than 10 poets, cuts will
be to 7 for the second round, and top 4 and any poet within one half
a point of the 4th poets score reading in the third round (which
realistically could be all seven).
Scores-
Reminder, scores are not cumulative for the slam, unless the host
specifies otherwise.
When and Where-
February 22nd, at the Paper Heart, 8pm
If you have any Q's, please send me an email, I look forward to
seeing everyone on the 22nd!

Arcosanti State Slam
----------------------------
Anthology is once again proud to be sending two teams to the
Arcosanti State Poetry Slam, Memorial Day Weekend, 2006.

Expect the 2006 Mesa National Slam Team to be there with Bells
on, ready to rock the mic.
Additionally, The Greater Phoenix Poetry Slam will be selecting a
team to attend Arcosanti- and it will be the top 4 poets in the May
24th Slam.

------------------------------
A Peak Into the Future
------------------------------
There are a lot of things going on at Anthology, including-

- Valentine's Day is Next Tuesday. Are you coming to Essenza to see
the Valentine's Day Massicree? Poets, musicians and others share
their wisdom on romance and all that other mushy stuff. Are you
"Love" or "not so Love"? $5 cover, 8PM, Essenza Coffeehouse. This
event is an Anthology Member's Pass Event.
- A New Website. We've been working on this one for 3 months, and we
are almost ready to show it to the world. Expect this one within weeks.
- New Opportunities. See Anthology members across Phoenix in the
Phoenix Libraries, getting paid to share their poetry with youth.
- The Big Kahuna- wishing for a National Caliber Event here in the
hometown? Hopefully, in the next 30 days, you wish will be granted.
Stay Tuned. BTW- The Big Kahuna will not be the name of the event, I
think.
