Greater Phoenix Poetry Slam

Join us This Wednesday the 31st at 8PM for the 9th Monthly Greater
Phoenix Poetry Slam! 10 poets slam for the chance to win $100 in cash
Prizes! Signups start at 7:30PM and the first 10 poets that sign up
pay no registration or door charge! Five additional Poets may signup
is the pay the $5 cover. The poetry slam is a performed poetry
competition judged by five members of the audience. The poets
performing will have three minutes in each round to present their
original work. The judges will then score the piece anywhere between
0 and 10, evaluating both the poet’s performance and the contents of
the poem. First place prize wins $50, second wins $30 and third wins
$20.

Song Lyric Slam at Essenza
--------------------------------------

Thursday, June 1 at 8PM will be the always entertaining and
hilarious Song Lyric Slam at the Essenzaslam! Poets are encouraged to
bring three sets of song lyrics to read as their poems. The audience
will judge them based on interpretation, performance and usually
recognizability. People to this day still talk about some of the most
memorable performances by some of this communities strongest
performance poets from past events! This slam is sure to be a popular
one so get their early as signup are capped at twelve, with no call-
ins allowed.
