ANNOUNCING A NEW RECORDING STUDIO FOR INDEPENDENT ARTISTS
Poets, Writers, Performers - are you looking to record a CD? Maybe
you don't want the low quality of home recording, but you think you
can't afford to rent a production studio? Think again! Conchetto
Productions just opened a studio in north Scottsdale that has exactly
what you're looking for - professional recording quality at an
affordable price.
Conchetto Productions is a new company founded this year by Jordan
Dorf, whom you may recall as the founder of NetRadioLive.com, one of
the earliest Internet broadcasting companies. Before it closed in
2002, NetRadioLive streamed over a million hours of live audio over
the 'Net and helped hundreds of independent artists set up their own
home recording studios and broadcast their original works online.
Now, Jordan is taking this experience to the next level by creating a
versatile recording studio that's open to the public. Why bother
with home recording (the expenses, the work, the learning curve - and
the lower audio quality) when you can just walk in to a professional-
quality studio and get the job done quickly?
Conchetto has designed its studio specifically to record solo vocal
performers (such as slam poets), solo musicians, singer/songwriters,
and group vocal performances for up to 5 people. External audio
sources and musical instruments can be added to the mix - just call
in advance for details. You can even fit a small audience in the
studio!
Here's the best part - unlike most recording studios, Conchetto
Productions doesn't overcharge for its services. You'll be surprised
at how easy and inexpensive it is to work with Jordan to get your
recording project done. Even better, Conchetto is currently offering
a special deal for Anthology members, one that's too good to pass
up. Get up to 3 hours of recording time in the studio, and walk away
with the CD(s) of your recording for just $100. Plus, as part of
this deal, MP3 file conversions are done at no extra charge - so if
you want to have an audio CD to sell at your performances, plus an
MP3 version to distribute on the 'Net, you'll get it all - and up to
3 hours of studio time - for just $100. You can't beat this deal for
both price and quality.
Remember, you have to be an Anthology member to take advantage of the
special pricing. Contact Jordan at (480) 473-7070 for details, and
to schedule your next recording session.

Hi all-
A couple people have asked about tickets and qualifying for the
iWPS Greater Phoenix Slamoff. It will be December 27th at The Paper
Heart. Tickets night of show will be $10, but there are two ways for
you to get in FREE!
Way #1, the Phoenix Slam iWPS Season Pass. $20 gets you into every
Phoenix Slam for the rest of the year, and then into the iWPS finals
for free. You can catch every one of the four qualifying slams as the
tension and drive builds to find out who will represent the BEST arts
venue in Phoenix at the BEST individual poetry slam of the year!
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick&business=bob%
40anthology%2eorg&item_name=Greater%20Phoenix%20iWPS%20Slam%20Season%
WAY #2, get your Anthology membership. the iWPS finals qualifies as
an Anthology Member's Pass event, so if you have one, you get in for
free.
Bronze Level: $10, One free admission ticket (Anthology Member’s
Pass) for an Anthology event (e.g., Paper Heart slam)*
Silver Level: $25, Two free admission tickets (Anthology Member’s
Pass) for Anthology events (e.g., Paper Heart slam)*
Gold Level: $50, Four free admission tickets (Anthology Member’s
Pass) for Anthology events (e.g., Paper Heart slam)*
Platinum Level: $100 and over, Free admission to all Anthology events*
You can get your membership online at http://www.anthology.org/
membership.html
Remember also that Necromancer is also coming up, as well as the
Cthuhlu Beach Party, so you can definitley get alot of use out of the
member's passes.
For more info, hit the slam's website, http://gpps.anthology.org,
I just updated it. It is important to note that we are going back to
the pre-registration, and a form to register is on the website. It's
FREE to slam if you register ahead of time, and that includes the
door, so it's no cost to you to try and win you're part of $100 AND a
spot in the iWPS final. If spots are available, we will let poets
register at the door for $5 (that's one $5 to get in and get on the
list). I have 4 spots left for August, so I would suggest you scoot
on over and get your name in the hat if you have not already.
Qualifying is simple, get into the slam...
http://gpps.anthology.org/Iwps.html has the complete rules
but here they are:
If you would like to qualify for the 2007 iWPS Paper Heart Final, to
be held Wednesday, December 27th, 2006, then you will definitley WANT
to hear about this:
Step One: Qualify for the final
Poets may slam in the Greater Phoenix Poetry Slams in August 30th,
September 27th, October 25th and November 29th.
The top 2 placing poets in each bout that are not already qualified
will earn a spot in the final on December 27th.
Two additional spots will be provided in a drawing- any poet that
attends all four slams but does not otherwise qualify is eligable for
the drawing.
Step Two: Handle the Business
At the show on December 27th, provide an entry fee of $20 (Anthology
Silver members and above have this fee waived).
Step Three: Win the Slam
The winner of the slam on December 27th will represent The Paper
Heart at the 2007 Individual World Poetry Slam Championships to be
held in Vancouver, B.C. in February, 2007.
Pass it on, and send me your Q's

Poets may slam in the Greater Phoenix Poetry Slams in August,
September, October and November.
The top 2 placing poets in each bout that are not already qualified
will earn a spot in the final on December 27th.
Two additional spots will be provided in a drawing- any poet that
attends all four slams but does not otherwise qualify is eligable for
the drawing.

Hello everyone-
Bob Nelson, Phoenix/Mesa Slammaster here to tell you about an
upcoming event that Anthology, Inc., our local nonprofit has planned.
Recently, the host venue of The Greater Phoenix Poetry Slam, a place
called The Paper Heart, opened up a couple days for us in October,
Thursday the 19th and Friday the 20th, to allow us to schedule a
regional poetry slam event.
The Paper Heart, online at http://www.thepaperheart.com, is one
of the best Arts venues in the southwest, having a full stage with
sound and a full bar doesn't hurt, but the owner has been a catalyst
for the tremendous art walks that we have seen in Phoenix over the
last 10 years, and he happens to like Bill Campana as well as the
rest of our slam crew a whole lot.
But enough of that, on to the event...
http://www.anthology.org/Necromancer06.html
We've set up a two day poetry slam for twenty poets to
participate. Anyone is welcome to register from anywhere if you'd
like to come to Phoenix in October. Registration is $20. Prizes are
$250 for 1st, $100 for 2nd and $50 for third. Since October will be
in most communities iWPS seasons, we borrowed a page from the format
for the Thursday preliminaries. We'll have two preliminary rounds on
Thursday night, each with 10 poets. The preliminary rounds will have
a Three minute round, a Two minute round and a One minute round. The
top five poets from each of the two preliminaries will move to the
Friday night final, which will be three rounds at three minutes apiece.
Oh, and we've set up some interesting fun activities as well, like
a water Balloon Showdown (because yeah, October is still hot in Phx)
and Boggle Tourney on Friday, as well as some additional intra-show
fun with some of our local performance artists.
Anyway, I just put up the website tonite, so feel free to check
out the details and send me any questions, which I will answer and
put together a FAQ as well...
Thanks, and I hope to see everyone in Phoenix!
