Curious Blend is an eclectic group of four singers, who balance fun with
high-end musicality. You may have seen us at the Harmony Sweeps Regionals
last year, and at many cafes and other venues around the bay area. We love
singing a wide range of stuff, from tight jazz harmonies (like Scotch and
Soda and Stolen Moments) to Weird Al comedy songs (like eBay). We have
produced our first CD, and our website (www.curiousblend.com <
http://www.curiousblend.com/) contains some clips of our work. We all work
hard, stretch each other, and take a lot of joy in making beautiful music.

We currently consist of a soprano 1, alto, tenor and baritone, and are
looking to expand our group with a mezzo and a vocal percussionist (bass or
baritone preferred). We rehearse weekly in Palo Alto, currently on Thursday
nights, but the day is flexible.

Interested singers should be able to pick up jazz harmonies (either by
reading music or having a really good ear), and be eager to join a friendly,
committed group of singers who reach high and have a great time in the
process.

Interested singers should send email to curiousblend@yahoogroups.com.

The Starry Knights is looking for a replacement bass singer. If you
want to know what and who we are, please go to our web site at
http://thestarryknights.com

We are interested in hearing from basses who might have only chorus
and Barbershop quartet experience. If you know and like some of the
basic 50's and early 60's vocal group music...and are willing to be
coached into our group, then get in touch.

Send us an e-mail explaining what 50's or early 60's songs you like
and tell us about any acting or stage experience you might have.

Can you sway or step-touch or snap on the off-beat and make it look
"cool?" This is all vital to our show and you have to be able to do it
well.

We get paid, so image and style is just as important as hitting your
notes with the correct and stylized rhythm and being on pitch. By the
way, we prefer that you do read music, but a good ear will help us
ignore if you don't.

What I have said here and what you see and hear on our web site should
attract just the guys we want to hear from.

Address any questions and/or your short e-mail letter to us at

starryknights01@...

Thanks for reading this.

full afternoon of the best-known and best-loved hit songs from
Broadway's finest productions, all delivered with the unique brand

Camerata of Grace Cathedral Auditions for 2008-2009

Camerata of Grace Cathedral, a chamber choir of about 24 musicians
will be holding auditions over the summer for all voice parts to join
us in the Fall. Our schedule has us sing about 4 services a month at
either the Sunday Choral Evensong or the Sunday Morning Choral
Eucharist in one of the most magnificent, majestic and beautiful
places of worship in the nation.

Under the direction of Assistant Director of Music, Ben Bachmann,
Camerata has steadily become an outstanding musical ensemble since
its inception in the Fall of 2005. Our weekly rehearsals are on
Wednesday evenings from 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM. Camerata sings a diverse
repertoire of Medieval Chant, Renaissance and Baroque motets,
Anglican Anthems and newly composed sacred works. Interested singers
must have choral experience, read music, and commit to regular
rehearsals. This is an excellent opportunity to offer one's musical
gifts in a vitally important ministry to the community. Cathedral
membership is not required.

For more information about this choir, or to arrange an audition,
please contact Ben Bachmann at benb@... or 415-749-
6334.

Auditions are held by appointment. You will be requested to sing a
prepared piece of any style that shows your vocal ability and
musicality (a hymn or classical selection), and also do some
vocalizing and sight-reading. The audition lasts 10-12 minutes. An
accompanist will be provided. There are openings for all voices.

Christmas is a season of spirit that is shared by many people and

Musaic invites you to join us for a musical evening of Comfort and
Joy, in which we sing about the best of the season's ideals, and
indeed the best of humanity. Music of Palestrina, Victoria, Bruckner,
Lauridsen, the Blenders, and Bill Gard, as well as familiar spirituals
and carols will soothe and exhilarate you with arching lines of
Renaissance polyphony, rich 20th century American harmonies, and
snappy, jazzy rhythms. We hope to lift your spirits and wrap you in
comfort and joy.

This is Musaic's 8th year bringing Christmas concerts to the Bay Area.
The men of Musaic are looking forward to working with the Curry Senior

GALA (Gay and
Lesbian Association of Choruses) convention in Miami, with the kick-off of
the newly named holiday series of concerts, christened “’Tis the Season!”
Jennings commented “I think it’s about time we came up with a branding

on familiar men’s chorus arrangements from their rich choral history.
“Counterpoint,” the highly regarded small ensemble, will also be featured
along with a few holiday surprises. Please join us for our annual holiday
concert series, now branded, “’Tis The Season!”
About the Chorus
The Golden Gate Men’s Chorus (GGMC) was formed by Dick Kramer in 1982 as the
Dick Kramer Gay Men’s Chorale. Mr. Kramer, one of the founding fathers of
the American gay choral movement, envisioned a small men’s ensemble
reminiscent
of university men’s choruses of 19th-century Europe. Reorganized as the
Golden Gate Men’s Chorus in 1988, the GGMC continues to present high quality
performances of men’s choral music. The GGMC presents spring, summer and
winter
programs annually, in addition to guest and community benefit performances
throughout the year.
The Golden Gate Men’s Chorus is a select group of 50 men representing the
ethnic and social diversity of San Francisco who share a common appreciation of
choral music. The Golden Gate Men’s Chorus is committed to excellence and
joyous music-making; providing a supportive and nurturing atmosphere for our
members’ artistic and social self-expression; and sharing and expanding the
rich and continuing tradition of male choral music.
The GGMC is proud to be supported by the San Francisco Grants for the
Arts/SF Hotel Tax Fund and is a member of GALA Choruses, an international
organization of gay- and lesbian-identified and supportive choruses.
For more information, visit the GGMC Web site at _www.ggmc.org_

Annual Concerts with Stanford Symphonic Chorus

Embrace the holiday season with glorious music. In continuation of its
60-year dedication to providing "Local and Live" music, the Peninsula
Symphony celebrates the Holiday Season with concerts that feature the
works of Brian Holmes (Peninsula Symphony musician), Bernstein, and
Copland.

Don't miss this joyous celebration! • Buy your tickets today!

Program Includes:
Amherst Requiem (World Premiere) - Brian Holmes
An original composition based on words of the Latin Requiem Mass and
some of the most evocative and heartfelt poems of Emily Dickinson.
Quiet City - Copland
Chichester Psalms - Bernstein

Artists Include:
Peninsula Symphony, Mitchell Sardou Klein, Music Director & Conductor
Stanford Symphonic Chorus, Stephen Sano, Music Director
Soloist Heidi Melton (Adler Fellow)
Vivace Youth Chorus, Peggy Spool, Conductor

These concerts will mark the World Premiere of Brian Holmes' Amherst
Requiem. This is an absorbing and original composition, alternating
the words of the Latin Requiem Mass, sung by the Stanford Chorus and
Vivace Youth Chorus, and some of the most evocative and heartfelt
poems of Emily Dickinson, sung by the magnificent San Francisco Opera
Adler Fellow, soprano Heidi Melton.

"Holmes uses the sounds of a symphony orchestra, large chorus, soprano
soloist, and youth chorus in a most imaginative and moving setting,"
remarks Music Director and Conductor, Mitchell Sardou Klein.

The second half of the concert features familiar works by two of the
most celebrated American masters, Leonard Bernstein and his mentor
Aaron Copland. Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, written in 1965 for the
Chichester Music Festival in England, focuses on six Biblical psalms
(sung in the original Hebrew), centering on the famous Psalm 23. This
upbeat, even serene work, with many of the signature Bernstein
trademarks, has become a favorite of his compositions among audiences
and critics. Also on the second half is Copland's elegant Quiet City,
for string orchestra, trumpet and English Horn. Written in 1940, it
combines elements from his incidental music to the Irwin Shaw play by
the same name. Though the play was performed only twice and abandoned,
the music has endured and been embraced as a masterpiece.

Dear Friends:

As the Merrie Olde Christmas Carolers go into their 32nd season of
caroling, I wanted to share some exciting news with you.

In addition to the many shopping malls, department stores, private and
corporate events for which they’ll be spreading holiday cheer, from
both the northern California and regional U.S. branches, I’m proud to
announce several other Bay Area choral organizations will be
performing my MOCC arrangements in concerts this month:

Chanticleer: www.chanticleer.org

Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale: www.symphonysiliconvalley.org

Golden Gate Mens Chorus: www.ggmc.org

Singers Marin: www.singersmarin.org

West Valley College Chamber Singers: www.westvalleychoirs.org

Chancel Choir of Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Redwood City:
www.uufrc.org

...and believe it or not, various groups around the globe! The latter
is due to the fact an assortment of my arrangements, along with those
of the estimable Deke Sharon, founder of the Contemporary A Cappella
Society (www.casa.org) and iconic vocal rock band, The House Jacks
(www.housejacks.com
), are featured in a compilation of caroling arrangements published by
Mainely A Cappella (www.a-cappella.com). In the past I’ve received
royalty checks from both that company and from ASCAP, for performances
by choral groups as far flung as Sweden, the Philippines, Yugoslavia,
Japan... It’s pretty amazing!

And I hope this coming holiday season is equally amazing for all of
you and your loved ones, too.

Much love and gratitude to all for your continued support of live music.
