I think you meant "soft" tension strings. They sacrifice some tone but
require the least effort to fret. Personally, though, I hate them
because they never sound in tune (even if your guitar is well adjusted)
because the human fingers only have so much control over pressure. This
is especially true if you ever use 6=D tuning (or any lowered tuning).
Hard tension strings will make you tired sooner, but they sound much
nicer and (most important for me) they tolerate my inconsistent finger
pressure (as long as I exceed the minimum). There is nothing soft
tension allows that hard tension doesn't (except for, say, string-
bending blues licks.) Also, they keep your fingers in shape so that you
can switch back and forth between classical and other guitars more
easily.
