Tonight, in his honor, I think I'll get shit-faced drunk and sing
"Summertime" the way he used to do. Although there's no way I could ever
imitate those big bass pipes :-(
I'd like to have a dollar for each night as a kid I lay in bed with my
transistor radio listening to his show on WLAC Nashville, then WPLO Atlanta,
then WFOM Marietta.
It was a blast playing all those Hop-A-Roonies for him and hanging out at
the radio station listening to all of his monkey business.
