There is the likelihood that this issues has less to do with this person and is more than likely that someone else's edress book has been contaminated that has this persons email on their list. In that way the garbage is coming to this list.

I'd like to hear from people who have won their District/Region Quartet
contest (or higher). Or, if you have been part of a chapter in the
hiring process to hire a District/Region champ or higher for your show.
Quartets: What goes into your thinking on how to price your show? What
all do you write into a contract? Travel expenses? Meals? Hotels? Show
fee? Tickets to the show(s)? Other things?
Also, if you're having to take a whole weekend for travel and you're
self-employed, do you consider your time away in the fees that you
charge?
How many of you have used an agent? And how has that benefitted you? How
did you go about finding an agent?
How many of you have created and sent out marketing packets to create
show opportunities? What has the response been in doing that?

[Matt] It’s a little bit about what the traffic will bear. Average Joes was charging $600 as a show fee, mileage reimbursement from the farthest point from the show (not for each vehicle. The chapter isn’t responsible for the fact that we come from different places). Hotels are currently booked and paid by the chapter. We like to get comp tickets. Unless the hall is sold out, they are a freebie from the chapter.
We were just crowned District Champs a few weeks ago. It’s probably worth mentioning that we’ve decided to reduce our show fee for our championship year so that we can get around to as many chapters as possible to share our year with them. We’re charging $500 this year. After the year has passed our fee will likely increase.

I’m responding as someone who has been involved a number of times in the selection process of a headliner quartet to perform on a Chapter show.
On multiple occasions our chapter booked the current (or recent) International Gold medalist quartet. On other occasions we booked a FWD championship quartet. In some cases we booked well known FWD medalists, and more than once we booked non-medalist quartets from our geographic area.
I can say with some confidence that the impact on ticket sales relative to booking an International Gold Medalist and a well-known local area quartet was minimal. Since 90% of tickets are purchased by fans of Barbershop harmony and friends of chapter members, it doesn’t have much of an impact on ticket sales one way or the other. BUT… it can have a major impact on the financial success of the show, especially in economic times like what we are presently experiencing.

Harmony Brigade is intended for avid quartetters, and the scholarships are available only to those who have never
attended before. You'll spend a high-energy weekend doing wall-to-wall quartet singing day and night, switching around with nearly an endless combination of more than 100 solid, well-prepared quartet partners.
