PVC Bb Drone Flute   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #9684 of 10215 |
I made a PVC drone flute using the roura design. I made two Bb flutes and left
one without finger holes using wine corks for the plugs. Then I used a 3/4" tee,
two 3/4" elbows and four pieces of 3/4" PVC each 2" long. I have posted photos
in Bob Tinsley's Photos folder and an mp3 file in Bob Tinsley's Files in the
files area. Nice thing about it is that I can pull the non drone portion off and
use it alone. The way I built it doesn't allow for playing the flute and the
drone separately. and the weird angle is so that the drone will rest on my left
wrist while I'm playing. It's pretty unwieldy. I'm thinking of filing a couple
of flats on the couplers, gluing them together and carving a wooden mouthpiece
that would allow me play one side at a time or both together.

The drone sounds pretty good to me. I might even try a wood flute next!

Bob
