Hello all,

I was a member back in the days when this group was first founded (I
went by the nick "likesthedark").

I dropped off the map for many years as I travelled the world, without
a computer.

I am back, and I am looking for bootleg collectors to trade Bauhaus
shows. Here is my bootleg list: http://db.etree.org/Bauhausian

Please email me if you would like to trade. I am particularly
interested in two bootlegs:

1. 2006 audio recording of "With Gravity Comes a Broken Heart" from the
Tate Britian 'Gothic Nightmares' exhibition.

2. DVD of the June 21, 2006, Buffalo, NY show.

Thanks for the info Ben, I went to Bauhausmusik.com forums and was
glad to find they have some new songs going. What was the date they
played last in Chicago? (not listed).

An mp4 video of Poison Pen from that gig can be downloaded from:

http://www.thesoundofindie.com/?p=182

Not seen it myself yet, but internet reviews are, 'ow you say..."mixed"?

Apparently they had contractual commitments, individually, which
prevented them from doing so. By the time they'd discharged those
commitments, all the steam seemed to have gone out of the idea.

I saw them twice in '98 and, while they were absolutely fantastic
then, I have to say the first of the recent London gigs was the best
I've *ever* seen them. Some people were carping about the 'best of'
nature of the setlist - but for people who've never the band before,
that's kinda what they expect. Anything else would be cheating them.

The following night's gig was a bit of a disaster, sadly, apparently
for technical reasons - but when they *were* playing, they easily
showed that they've still got it. Spurning that seems like cutting
off your nose to spite your face if you ask me, but some people look
better that way.

> You can tell the band is no longer active I hardly see any posts

But this is utter cobblers, I'm afraid. The reason hardly anyone
posts here anymore is that the internet has moved on - everyone's
over at the forum on the official site, which is regularly buzzing!
Yahoogroups is dead, it just doesn't know it yet. Email? Pah. (A
shame, really, as I far prefer typing into my mail client than a web
interface, but that's Web 2.0 for you.)

> and the DVD debacle was another missed opportunity.

What, the Shadow/Archive fiasco? Yes, but it's worth bearing in mind
that the band had nothing whatsoever to do with that travestastic
release. INALB they didn't even make a penny out of it, AIUI - they
sold the publication rights to the vast majority of their back
catalogue some years ago, so when you buy a Bauhaus album (except
Gotham, natch), they no longer get residuals/royalties.

> Gotham left
> out the awe inspiring version of "Severance" as well.

Disc 1, Track 9 of the CD release, though. Yes, I know it's not the
same.

Cheers,

If you want to see Bauhaus in thier prime get your hands on the U of
London show - very raw with early versions of Dancing and Poison Pen,
the light show was great and the energy was fantastic you can see the
punks all getting into it! I got the Target video version which
unfortunately has a stupid logo on it, but it's worth it!
I think the band blew a golden opportunity back in 98 when they were
selling out shows they should have kept going and put out a new
album, and kept touring. They were sure to get big! This last tour
seemed hastily put together and didn't seem to have much vibe so I
decided to not spoil my memories of 98.
You can tell the band is no longer active I hardly see any posts
here, and the DVD debacle was another missed opportunity. Gotham left
out the awe inspiring version of "Severance" as well.

I own the Gotham and Shadow of Light & Achives Dvds. Out of the two
videos Gotham is the far better video because the live energy of the
crowd and Peter Murphy's theatics with Daniel Ash, David J, and Kevin
Haskins as equally amazing makes me wish I was there. 'I love being at
concerts and being around live music'.

I had an opportunity to see them last year in the their 'Up In The
Atmosphere Tour' at the Koolhaus [Toronto]. I spoke with people after
the show and the fans who saw the Resurrection Tour at the Koolhaus in
1998 were disappointed. Hence again why the Gotham DVD a great viewing
experience. Still seeing Bauhaus live was a dream come true.

Shadow of Light & Achives DVD is still a must have for Bauhaus fans
but the video and audio quality isn't as amazing as watching Gotham. I
wish some production went into the DVD presentation with some extra
features as well improvement in video and audio quality but they
probably can't.

Ne ways I was wonder if anyone else own these movies and have
something more to say about these music videos from the grandfathers
of goth rock.
