I agree wholeheartedly but there is another thing that burns me...
The shameful practice of the major league sports venues, who
absolutely restrict the regular broadcast of the National Anthem at
the outset of games. Seems they think it should only be played at
the ANNUAL major events, such as Playoffs, Championships, and
especially the World Series (Baseball) and the SuperBowl (football)...
We of the USA (iconic appellation) sorely need more regular reminders
the Anthem offers, of Pride, Valor and yes even VICTORY our great
land provides us, because respect has certainly changed and seems to
be observed primarily by the seniors and thoughtful younger people.
Of course the Anthem is played at every major league game, but it is
restricted to the in-person audience, when it should be made
available to the much wider broadcast audience. The great popularity
of the recent "honoring" of America in Baseball's 7th inning stretch
(broadcast singing of God Bless America) should be used as an impetus
for public pressure, to have the profit-minded bent of the networks
consider broadcasting the 2+ minutes Star Spangled Banner..... And
SPEBSQSA (another iconic appellation) should lead the way; especially
via chorus and quartets who can do the job properly and be willing to
submit to SOCIETY auditions for that demanding task.
