Subject: [bbshop] International Crew

I would like to take a moment to sing the praises for the stage and tech
crews at International, working hard behind the scenes to do everything they
can to bring us this contest. Yes, it's a hockey arena. We all know that.
But having Realtime go through six songs mic testing while they made every
effort to minimize the air handling noise - wow, I'm sure they were under
some pressure then.

And there's a lot more subtler things going on. During the quarter finals,
all the nations flags were at the front edge of the stage, dark. When the
semis started, we noticed they had moved them back to the curtain line and
added lighting. Maybe unnoticed by many, but appreciated by those of us who
did.

And the CAMERA work is *really* getting good! For example, when we have
comedy quartets, they are mostly holding the full-on shot instead of zooming
in on two faces and we miss the action. And when they do zoom in, it's to
the correct place calling for focus. And so many other places during the
contest where the camera is in the *right* place at the *right* time.

I'm familiar with what it takes to coordinate these efforts. This is no
small task. Thanks again to these crews working hard to make things even
better every year.
