Our crack Society staff found the one pager of this great old tune - that has a
wonderful story of the first Barbershop Harmony Society meeting ever at the
bottom of the sheet. They are putting it up under the "Free and Easy" music
listing.
Thanks for helping.

Hi Bill
HARMONY ARCHIVES has Down Mobile. This was listed for years as a single
arrangement numered 8520. Evidently it was dropped along with others like Down
Our Way [8522]. DM is is the theme song of the Woodshedders. AHSOW even has a
scripted demonstration of woodshedding using Down Mobile. The present version
of course is not the 'politically incoorrect' version they sang in 1938, which
we also have in the Archives. How can we help you? Thanks for all you do.

I gave a short talk about the beginnings of the Society at my chapter
meeting this week. Down Mobile was the first song sung, reportedly, at
the first meeting in April 1938, so I wanted the guys to sing it at the
appropriate place in my remarks. I used to have an arrangement of this
song, but I can't find it now. We woodshedded it, which was better in a
way, of course, but I'd like to have a copy of the arrangement, too.
It's not available on the Society website - a situation I'm hoping to
rectify. But, for now, can someone fax or email me a copy? I'm sure
it's PD, but check first, please.
