Yes,Firkusny also has a 2-cd set on DGG of the complete Janacek piano
music,a very good introduction and very original works.

A Bartok-like "kick" can be found in the Prokofieff 5th Piano
Concerto and 6th Piano Sonata,as well as the epic Sinfonia
Concertante,Op.125 ,for cello and orchestra;and the Barber piano
Concerto and Piano Sonata.And then try Rzewski's United We Stand
Variations for piano;and much Shostakovich;for starters.
