[Bela BARTOK Club] Re: Best Bartok?

Sigh...

I can't help myself. I KNOW everyone says the Quartets are better than
the Concerto for Orchestra but that fugal brass bit in the first mvt.
is is one of the most exciting moments in any music that I know.

Likewise I KNOW the Second Piano Concerto is the most rigorous and
well worked out if the three but the sheer joy and clarity of the 3rd
Concerto gives me goose-bumps.

The Music for Strings, Percussion etc.? I'll take the 4th movement
over the 1st any day...

I also prefer the 1st Piano Concerto to the Sonata for 2 Pianos and
prefer the Divertimento to... Well. I'm not sure but I know I rather
like it ;-)

What I philistine I am...

... I was going to argue for the Concerto for Orchestra. I'm not really that familiar with the quartets, so take my 2 cents with a grain of salt. :-) ... -- R....
