Pollini's Bartok concerti   Message List

I am admittedly ignorant as to Pollini's concerti recordings; his
solo efforts leave me enormously impressed, but often not
emotionally connected, obviously more my fault than his, and an
over-generneralization anyway, BUT:

The 1979 Bartok 1st and 2nd concerti, with Abbado and the
Chicago, on DGG, must rank as among his/their "best" ever
concerti recordings; and some of the great Bartok playing ever;
and one of the great concerto recordings of anything ever; and
does touch me emotionally.

The white-hot 1st, with yet a reflective slow movement; a 2nd with
wonderful lyricism followed by an extraordinary finale; Mon Dieux
!!

Pollini afficianados,detractors; Bartok lovers; please weigh in
and enlighten us over my cheap-cabernet influenced
assessments. Danke !!
