I was frankly pleasantly surprised to see a Yahoo group dedicated to Bela
Bartok. His music
is so unique and inspired. While I have almost every work of his, I'm still
learning the
subtelties of his harmonic idioms (which we all know are based on Hungarian folk
song).
Fascinating use of rhythm and orchestration in pieces like The Wooden Prince and
more so in
my favorite piece, The Miraculous Mandarin.
