Hello everyone,
Thank you Riwall for the Doctoral dissertation, about Duke Bluebeard's Castle.
It will make for interesting reading. I am very glad to see that it is published
in English.
I may not be around very much in the next few months. I had an accident that
damaged my thumb. Apparently the damage is called Gamekeeper's Thumb or Rupture
of the Collateral Ligament in my left thumb. Anyway I have to go to hospital
this coming Friday to have it repaired under Local or General Anaesthetic. It
will be a day only procedure, but I may have to type with one hand for a while.
One good thing, I use the computer mouse with my right hand so that is something
I can be thankful for.
Anyway please keep the posts about Bartok coming. I would like to see some more
observations about Bartok.
I was able to watch a performance of a Gypsy Bank Trio called Vardos. They
performed in Sydney on 12th November at The Basement, a Sydney Jazz venue near
Sydney Harbour. They play mostly Hungarian and Romanian Gypsy music. Hearing the
music made me think about Bartok's folk music collecting days. He may had heard
this music during his travels. They have put out a CD called "The Wild Side of
the Village". Just google "Vardos" in the search engine and you will find them.
Enjoy.
Sincerely,
Christine Gleeson
