On August 10th, Ben Folds held a free show in
Atlanta. He was on the local radio station earlier that
morning and they asked for callers to ask Ben some
questions. I got through. I aske Ben would he be performing
Ben Folds Five songs that night and asked if the
people in his songs are real or does he make them up. He
said he was going to play a few old songs and most of
people are real but he adds a few details. Anyway that
night I went to the concert and got onto the front row.
Ben was awesome. Some of the new songs are Rockin'
The Suberbs, this song is making fun of pop music, it
is great. Hiro, this is a song about a 51 yr. old
Japanese man who leaves his family for his daughter's best
friend and she leaves him for the drum programmer for a
band called Jesus. Stan is a song about a hippie.
There are so many more. The album is going to kick ass.
After he played new stuff, he left the stage and came
back himself and played, One Angry Dwarf and 200
Solemn Faces, Brick and then the new band came back out
and played Song for the dumped. Oh and as for the new
band, the bassist is Robert Sledgeish, i forgot his
name. The new guitarist is very cute and good, his name
is Snooze. So after the concert Ben goes off the
stage and goes to a tent and signs stuff. I could not
get back there because I did not have a pass. Well
the 2nd Band that played, Remi-Zero, came out and I
ran up to one of the guys in the band and ask him if
I could have his pass and he said I could if their
band was my second favorite. I said hell yeah. I ran
backstage. I walked into the tent shaking like nothing else,
sat next to Ben. I told him that I have been his fan
for 6 yrs. He was nice. He gave me 2 hugs. 2 not one.
He signed my pass and put 6yrs on it. He is really
cute. It is awesome when your favorite musician is
really nice to his fans. That was the best day of my
life. Ben is coming back to Atlanta in September and
again I will be there in the front.

Helen
